That would actually be a decent result in the scheme of things as a hammering in the first game wouldn't do our fragile confidence any good, they are better in most areas on paper but you never know with football and you never know which saints Will turn up!
-
That will definitely catch on so easy to sing too
-
Who was responsible for signing him in the first place? It was clear he was way past it then
-
Still worried that we have done nothing about the striker situation yes we have got saku mara in but he's that old signing that saints seem to love "one for the future" and completely unproven at this level, I don't think Adams and Armstrong are going to get anywhere enough between them, the club have known this and not acted
-
I think 12th would be decent & show we are heading in the right direction any less then it's not really progress with the resources available, Ralph should be able to achieve 12th or better with our current squad imo. However I don't think he will shake off the crashing inconsistencies ie we will no doubt go on a run of five or six wins followed by 15 losses in a row
-
Totally agree this season we should be able to judge his managerial abilities he can't hide behind the not my squad or only crap players available that noone would do better with excuse
-
Time will tell if Ralph knows his onions as he definitely didn't know them last season, I think we have lots of potential but still worried about our lack of experience within the squad if we can get in a proven striker to replace ings that's age 24 plus then things may look ok, think the best we can hope for is around 12th as the new players will need time and some of them may turn out to be duds but if we can play some good football over a sustained period rather than just a good month or two that's progress

Don't care about his Southampton roots.... Maybe I should but it's irrelevant. He is just trying to pretend he comes from humble roots not a privileged one when it's anything but that... Neither he or his parents and certainly not his wife have ever struggled financially so have no concept of the real world. Slimey Rishi

Not necessarily, ask yourself has the penny dropped with our fans that RH isn't very good?
-
While this guy has great potential it seems, how many times have we signed these "players with potential" and "players for the future" players for them To deliver sod all! I am onboard with the signing young players as long as we get an experienced proven striker that is ready for the here and now and can go straight in the first team and deliver the goals to stay up! We are going to need another good start to the season as we all know we were beyond dreadful the second half
-
And they will of course have loads of settling in time with the team
-
We are overrun with midfield options but have the worst strike force in the league how have we allowed that to happen? I don't think any club is going to fear an Adams and Armstrong duo
-
It is daily fail so I guess you have a point although a couple of other papers reporting it too, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11016531/Tottenham-30m-buyback-clause-Southampton-Kyle-Walker-Peters.html
-
Looks like spurs have a 30 million buy back clause in KWPs contract a lot of our players do so not a great strategy in my opinion but at least guaranteed money
-
Several reports saying United and arsenal sniffing around as well as other clubs, he's one we can't afford to lose in my opinion

Yes he probably has ambition to go to a top six once more but right now his reputation isn't what it was due to one failure, he needs to show he still has it at a club like ours, that said yes ultimately we'd be a stepping stone but we are always a stepping stone for both managers & players that's how it works unfortunately, and I'd rather have a couple of years success than not
-
We should be straight on the phone to pochetino! He failed at psg as they had a team of veterans that couldn't keep up pace with his style and they would not get rid of them, he would do wonders with a young team here! Proven premier league experience with us and spurs
-
15 million we paid, so 12 million book value currently, actual value considerably less
-
How much do you realistically think we would get for him? would someone take a punt on him for 8 million? (which is still a 7 million loss)
-
So best to get what we can for him now? Or hope that he will find form this season
-
This is true would definitely need some cover in the striking department first, how do you see the signing of Armstrong? Still potential to come good or the championship is his level?
-
There's talk of Adam Armstrong being loaned to a championship side, can see it being made permanent to be honest as we may see that he can get back to scoring ways in the championship & then come back to us and be no better? Thoughts? Should we cash in on him?
-
How would you rate his time at the club so far? For me it's a 6/10 at best good spells but by far the most inconsistent manger in this League just as capable of losing nine nil as winning three nil, he can count himself extremely lucky to survive the worst defeats in our history and several long runs of dreadful dreadful form, we will see what he's made of this season when he can't hide under the excuse that it's not his team, will another 15th be good enough or have we finally got some ambition?

Not sold on lyanco seems a complete liability
