Yep, i can. Name one who is better. Realistic and available, remember.
-
When he went back to Portsmouth they looked certain to go down, they were in the relegation zone, only won 2 out of 15 and he kept them up.
-
Seriously, take the emotion out of it. Forget he was ever manager at Saints and imagine the situation with him, us and Pompey had been him, Ipwich and Norwich or Blackburn and Burnley. Imagine He had an identical record but managing those clubs instead of us and them. Can anyone honestly say there is a current manager, realistic and available that is better suited or able to establish us as premier league club again?
-
He discovered Bale. He turned him into the player he is. He told us this himself.
-
At the end of the day though it was Sandra that swung it for him, she told him what a great opportunity it was and how he'd be mad to turn it down, it's a great job and a chance to finish his career with a triffic club. And he's not worried about the reaction of the fans, what are they going to do shoot him? It's not a war.
-
Yeah so if it's a guide he's taken Bournemouth to their highest ever finish, West Ham into Europe and their second highest finish, Pompey from the championship to the premier league and FA Cup winners and spurs from the bottom 3 to th champions league places. Using your guide and having succeded at 4 out of 5 clubs I would say that makes him a great choice, no?
-
He'll want to be here because Southampton is a triffic club with great supporters and he's got unfinished business at a proper football club. He's got a huge deal of respect for Nicola and Les and what they are doing here. last time it was right club wrong time, now with the backing the club he's got he can build a team to take it to where it belongs.
-
Congratulations on your birth by the way, what did you have?
-
What Redknapp did last time is totally irrelevant to what he might do now. It was 7 years ago, he didn't want to be here from day one and he inherited a team which was in huge decline and beset by injuries to key players in Svenson and Oakley. I thought he'd keep us up but it's worth remembering the rot had already set in, I think we'd only won twice when he arrived and we looked a team destined for the drop. Since then he's turned Pompey who were relegation fodder when he went back into an FA Cup winning team and spurs form the bottom 3 into the champions league for the first even. As I've said a couple of times on this thread, with my Saints fan head on I don't want him anywhere near us, but thinking rationally I can't think of anyone better to establish us as a Premeir league club.

I'd stick with 4-4-2 mush. A good old fashioned English system. I'd get the ball into the mixer as often as possible, long into the big man and have Chaplow there picking up the empties, no f*cking about with it. We need some good old English steel in the middle so i'd recall Hammond mush and stick him the enginee room. None of these Japs in my team, what do they know about football they should stick to Karate, we need a good old English centre half in there to get stuck in. I'd give all the young nippers a go as they are fast and class. Stick that Shaw on the left midfield, he's meant to be like Garth bale aint he mush? That Rodriguez he sounds like a dago mush, what do they know about football? They're too busy drinking sangri and trying to shoot each other. There must be someone like Gordon Hobson we can get from lincoln, good old fashioned English forward. As for them darkies, they dont like the cold weather mush, i'd have none of them if i could help it. This would be my team mush. Big Ron as manager. Get stuck in, get it long, get it in the mixer. Stick to what we're good at aint that right mush. Boruc Butterfield Seborne Stephens Fox Cork Hammond Chalow Shaw Lambert Lallana

Which is why i applaud the echo for raising the issue this morning as it's news and all Saints fans are talking about it.
-
What a pair of clams there are.
-
Which he did to give him his due. Contrary to his reputation he didnt do it by overspending by tens of millions either. Although is seems like "Daniel" was in charge of transfers.
-
A lot of people at work live on the north side of Bracknell in between there and Ascot. Reasonable for the area but very nice, apparantly. Personally i'm probably going to be moving up north next year, to Leeds or most likely Harrogate.
-
Like i said, short term it could work. Give him a 2 1/2 year deal. Let him bring in some established players, stabilise us in the premier league, Then we can worry about staying here and doing it "the Southampton way" - We've tried to change too much too quickly without the players and experience to do it.
-
Thats a point. Redknapp called Levy, Daniel. I cant imagine Nick Nack wanting someone to work for him who calls him Nicola. He does like members of staff calling him anything other than Mr Cortese and only to speak when spoken to. This is gonna be the deal breaker i'm afraid.
-
Maybe they cant. But if we want to build a premier league team and stabilise in the premier league who is better that is realistic? If Cortese and Reed have to wind their necks in for a bit then that can only be a good thing, for now at least. otherwise i feel we are doomed to relegation whoever is in charge.
-
Couldn't blame them to be honest. As i said, as a Saints fan, no way. Thinking rationally, he is the only man for the job based in this country.
-
Quite. Seriously and im being serious for a minute, we have tried to change too much too early. The players won promotion playing a certain way, they are used to playing that way and we dont have the players to play 4-3-3 at the moment. We've thrown in a manager and a team with hardly any top flight experience, torn up what they are good at and been successful and told them "this is how its going to be from now on" adapt to the premier league, adapt to the new way of playing and be quick about it. Change should have been gradual, we should have established ourselves as a premier league club first, then worried about making sure we stay there and progress by doing it "the Southampton way". If Adkins is the fall guy then it's a huge shame and if he goes i want an experienced man brought in like i mentioned above, be allowed to do things his way, get us established for a couple of seasons, then and only then is even all this copying Barcelona and so on even viable and thinkable.
-
Ranieri or Bentiez would be brilliant. Laurent Blanc or Slavan Bilic would be good if we are going foreign. All 4 are a bit optimistic but lets see if Cortese walks the walk. If we are going current British based then i cant see past Redknapp. With my saints fan head on i say no way. With my common sense head on i say he's the best man for the job short term. He'll establish us in the premier league, bring in some decent players and for a short term fix then he is the only choice.
-
It's certainly one of the questions at the top of Corteses interview list.
-
Claudio Ranieri. FACT
-
GIve it to me. I'll spend it for you.
-
at least no one took his mug. he'd be lost without Jordan Sibley.
-
No, it was a true story.
