Hardly the worst either. Decent game.

Tidy finish from Gueye...although not a patch on the Steve De Ridder You Tube.

Aren't Doyen the group who also own the transfer rights of some players. Possibly the group that did own Marcos Rojo?

Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
Saint Charlie replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Very plausible. Clearly for Clyne to change agent he was not very happy. Reed and Koeman also started becoming more positive about him staying once the Utd deal fell apart and it seems the Liverpool interest is recent. If Clyne has missed the chance to join Man Utd because of his agent then he will doubtless be pretty hacked off. All the Utd journalists in the national media like McDonnell and Ogden were reporting it as a done deal so something major must have changed. -

Excellent. Not actually too many positions we need signings IMO. RB cover, forward, GK cover then replacing outgoings or loans. -

Would need two RBs I guess as it was the only position (GK aside) that we had poor cover for last season, in that it meant messing with the Toby/Fonte partnership. Also nothing in the U21s in that position that is close to first team quality. If either Targett or Bertrand were two footed it would be a massive help, but players these days rarely are. -

Yep and for Saints, Clyne leaving for free next summer is worse than selling for £15m to Liverpool this summer. Our business model is reliant on selling and replacing, not losing quality players for free. -
Cheers for that. Sounds like he wasnt a regular for Lille til earlier this season but did well of late. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2015/03/17/idrissa-gueye-the-beating-heart-of-lilles-push-up-the-ligue-1-table/ http://frenchfootballweekly.com/2013/05/15/idrissa-gueye-the-driving-force-behind-lilles-charge-towards-europe/ Appears to be more of a defensive player than a creator, so different to Vilhena perhaps in that regard.

A delusional. We all hope Clyne stays, but the last time a Saints player turned down a "bigger club" was Kelvin not joining West Ham. Last time a Saint turned down a top club was probably MLT. Will be fantastic if he signs for us, but people saying they "can't see him wanting to join Liverpool" are talking with Saints tinted glasses. -

The people saying they can't see him wanting to go there are mini Blatters. If they want him, he will go. -

Is this the bit where Jeff names the other right backs who were miles better than Clyne this season? Apart from Ivanovic I am struggling. -

He has mostly been playing in midfield for them. -
Could be tough if they do go in for him, assuming we are even interested of course. Always going to face competition for good players I guess.

No need to be depressed at all either way. The post you quoted simply said that despite his drop in form Clyne was still better than many right backs we faced last season. A great signing for someone, hopefully Saints. -

He never said that. He just said based on the available evidence he thought he would stay. Which, as of this morning, was a fair assumption. -

He was still better than 90% of the right backs we faced last season though. Good defensively and going forward and also rarely injured. -
@JongsmaJongsma: Algemeen Dagblad report sources in Rome have told them AS Roma is about to make a move for Feyenoord captain Jordy Clasie. Have Roma qualified for the CL?

Express Journalist Paul Joyce who is well connected at Liverpool says he wants the move and Saints are waiting for the offer to reach £12m. Sounds like it will happen. Pretty poor even at 12m and would leave us needing two RBs this summer as we only had Toby as cover this season. -

In todays inflated market he is worth £20m, the problem is his contract. Still, £9m is a poor offer, regardless of a dip in form he was one of the top 3 PL right backs last season. Also interesting all the papers got this at the same time. Either leaked by Liverpool or Clyne's people. -

Well that would be ****ing annoying. -
Wasnt that the wage budget last year? In the Krueger interview from the US that was posted here last week he said we used some of the transfer profits to budget for the wages of the signings we made across the years of their contract. Plus we also paid for Bertrand mid season. We clearly need to sort the keeper situation and then either sign or replace Toby, Clyne, Morgan, Elia and Djuricic but will we do much more than that? Who knows, but certainly wouldnt need as many players as last summer IMO.

http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9867272/clyne-linked-with-united-move Title a bit misleading, content a bit different from when he was saying his next step was definitely Champions League. -
Interesting stats comparing saints this season and last season
Saint Charlie replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Same number of goals (54) and 18 of those came in 3 matches (Sunderland, Villa, Newcastle) meaning from the other 35 games we scored 36 goals, so approx one per game - thats the main area for improvement next season. 37 home goals from 19 games 17 away goals from 19 games -
Our old pal Alan Nixon, now at The Sun reckons Stoke are well placed to sign Konoplyanka from Dnipro and have offered him a massive deal.
