Perhaps they do. But certainly not worth a higher mark based on first team contribution this season. Which is surely what these ratings are about. I know you don't rate Tadic, which is fine by me, but you surely realise he made more of a positive impact to the first team this season than Matt Targett (who is a good prospect) did?

Not at all. We should do really well next season. Just saying we were good enough this season to get 5th IMO if we had done ever so slightly better during our two main poor spells. Surely most agree with that? Our GD backs it up too. I am sure the players and Koeman are very happy but also know they had a great chance to do even better. Last summer was different as was clear since March or so that it was going to be rocky. This summer won't be.

Fair enough but when you look at what Clyne contributed to the team across the whole season it was undeniably a huge amount more than Targett, principally because he played a lot more games. Targett has done well in most of the few games he played but over the season he hasn't been more than 6/10 for what he contributed to our overall success. Clyne has been far more important, to give them the same mark is odd IMO.

Targett 8? The same as Clyne? Madness.

Morgan to Spurs shouldn't be ruled out IMO. Although the fee may be too much for them unless they sell Lloris.

How can Targett get a higher rating than Tadic?

Pelle is an easy target but has done well in his first season in a tough league, scoring a lot more goals in a season than Long ever has in his PL career. He plays through knocks, takes the responsibility of being the main goalscorer and has scored vital goals for us this season, yet is patronised and suggested as the first man to ship out. Long cost more, scored less, played less, had far less of an impact, doesn't score in big games, doesn't take responsibility to be a big source of goals etc and yet people like him a lot. Unfair world and I assume you are the guys who always sing the Pelle song at SMS and were raving about him to your mates in November. Pelle will be more than useful next season, and hopefully will have some proper competition, unlike this season. Show the guy a bit of respect.

But we have been a striker light all season, so selling the best one would be a little odd IMO. No chance we could sell Pelle for more than it would cost to get Austin anyway.

Why get rid of a proven double figures striker for "a random guy from Europe"? Why do we have to replace Pelle rather than just add someone to compete with him? If Pelle didnt uproot any trees then Long didn't even grip the tree apart from in about 3 or 4 games.

But we need to add to the squad so would still mean we were a striker light. We need to keep Pelle and add.

Doubt it to be honest. Would be a bit knee jerk. More likely he has waited to see if any top clubs have come in for him. United clearly did and for whatever reason have cooled interest. New deal would be great for Saints as enables us to get a bigger fee when he eventually does go and of course means we don't need to recruit two RBs this summer (we need a backup to Clyne, especially if Toby doesn't stay. Nobody in the U21s for this position.)

Stoke away, in control of the game and we let them back in with a keeper error which Forster, being significantly taller would surely have claimed. It has made a difference. Lack of a striker, even on loan, in Jan probably has too.

Agree the keeper situation was a disaster waiting to happen all season. Needs to be addressed this summer as it should have last.

Thats a fair summary. Slight frustration to have such a great season and still finish below a poor Liverpool side. 7th is fantastic and quite possibly European football too but 5th was there for the taking and we may never get a better opportunity.

So, Arsenal win needed for European football. If Villa defend like they did against us then its no contest. But Arsenal can be flaky on big occassions so you never know. Despite getting a hattrick I reckon Giroud might come back in for Walcott up front. Will be odd watching this and supporting the bigger team.
