  1. Decent player and would be good in our team. But very very unlikely he would leave West Ham for Saints. He is a Hammer through and through and they are just about to move to the Olympic Stadium.
  2. Plus its hard to see Pelle and Austin as a pair. And we won't play 4-4-2 or 4-2-4 often anyway so a bit of a redundant idea.
  3. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/06/05/tottenham-hotspur-and-southampton-tussle-for-sven-van-beek/212728/ This guy is class.
  4. Its done brilliantly. But to break the top 4 you need money, more money and to be able to retain virtually all your best players by paying them the same as they can earn elsewhere. So we will most likely always fall short like every other PL team outside the top 6 clubs.
  5. Absolute rubbish - he is already out the door. I'm just saying good luck to the guy, hope he goes on to be a world class player and win titles - that will justify the decision he has made to leave. Look at it from his point of view, which is undoubtedly what he is doing himself. Even Koeman said you cannot blame a player for wanting to play at the highest level they can, and of all our current squad he has probably done the most for Saints. He has earned the right to pursue what we cannot offer him IMO and Saints will be well compensated. Be sad he is going to leave, but surely his reasoning cannot be questioned and I think the majority of fans will wish him well if its handled in a respectful way.
  6. Probably don't hear about it because Saints fans don't really care what Hull did with the cash we gave them. One of the reasons we had to pay that for Long was that he had four years left on his recently signed contract. Austin has one and then he will leave for free so QPR arent in a great bargaining position. £10-£12m probably about right and I doubt they will get £15m when they sell anyway. Be interesting to see how it develops.
  7. Its not all our best players it is one. I wouldn't wish Clyne all the best if he leaves, nor Wanyama. I am ambitious and think Saints can still grow, but it takes time. Right now, as we are, we cannot match what other clubs can offer Schneiderlin, both on the pitch and financially. Unless we spent massive this summer have a very, very slim chance of top 4 as would need to finish ahead of either Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal or Man Utd and all have better players than us, much bigger wage bills and much deeper squads. That is why no teams of our size ever finish above these teams in this era. He stayed last summer and was excellent again this year, but no point holding him back and he has obviously decided he wants to leave - he is Champions League quality and wants to nail his place in the France team ahead of a home tournament next summer. Who can blame him for that? If he stays then great, it would be amazing for Saints. But he is almost certain to leave, and most fans I think have come to terms with that, and if he moves to a bigger and better team than Saints I don't think many would begrudge him success. He has done a lot for Saints and displayed a good attitude since the events last summer.
  8. Shane Long fee was and still is way over the top as we were desperate. But fair point. Its more the contract situation with Austin. Clyne has one year left and that is going to reduce the fee we get. If thats the same with Austin then if he had 3 years left on his contract would his price be £20m? I don't think so.
  9. £15m IMO steep for a player with one PL season and one year on his contract who is going to be angling to leave a relegated team. Bearing in mind Berahino is available for just £5m more and is better and younger with more sell on value. But no chance we would spend that on one player. No complaints on Austin's goal record, but does that come at a slight cost in terms of his ability to be part of a forward line and link well with other players? That side of his game is a lot weaker.
  10. A troll for hoping a player who has given years of great service to Saints, will earn us 25 times what we paid for him and is CLEARLY leaving this summer, gets a good move to a top Champions League side? Come on. Grow up. Would be nice when he next plays at SMS to give him a decent reception rather than have the whole thing turn into a Lovren/Lallana episode. If you think that is worthy of asking someone to leave a public forum then fair play to you.
  11. Ok. His time at Saints is drawing to a close. Better?
  12. Be good to see him as the main striker rather than out wide. Imagine having someone who can run in behind or come short after years of good but immobile strikers.
  13. He has done his time at Saints and its been wonderful for both parties. Really hope he gets a great move without anything turning sour like last summer.
  14. @KuipTalk: According to Bild Sports, Schalke 04 is seriously interested in Jordy Clasie after their target Sami Khedira is expected to sign for Juve.
  15. Shame that Jordace Holder-Spooner never made it at Saints.
  16. Doubt it. You just don't read stories about Enner Valencia or other non top 4 players/Saints players because you aren't as interested most likely. But if you see what he (Valencia) wrote on his facebook this week... Sissoko also been hyping interest from Chelsea. Benteke, Lukaku, Idrissa Gueye...they all do it.
  17. I know he is often mentioned and would be a big risk but Micah Richards could be an option to replace Clyne, plus can also cover at CB or in a back 3 if we switched to that. English player with proven quality, something to prove and available on a free. Resale value too potentially. Dodgy injury record and previous attitude issues though.
  18. Probably because when they don't have a Club You Tube camera in their face they feel they can speak freely. Lukaku did earlier this week, Suarez did all last season and Schneiderlin has a lot this season, even Fonte did earlier this week too. Its easy to excuse it as "lost in translation" but they have a right to free speech.
  19. http://www.vi.nl/web/nieuws/vilhena-draait-bij-langer-verblijf-in-de-kuip-toch-optie.htm?channel=phone Vilhena may stay at Feyenoord for the final year of his contract. Not sure we are still in for him tbh.
  20. He was. He played in the PL only for them though. Whilst he has been superb for Saints in the Football League he was not great in the PL for us either...
  21. Sorry, was just going on what Stekelenburg said himself, but sure you are right. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/481389/My-time-at-Fulham-was-a-FAILURE-Maarten-Stekelenburg-eyes-Craven-Cottage-exit He is probably miles better than Davis and Gazzaniga but so is Gerhard Tremmel.
  22. http://www.soka25east.com/victor-wanyama-yes-i-would-love-to-play-for-arsenal-but-such-decisions-can-only-be-made-by-southampton/ Some of our players enjoy a bit of chat when no press officers are around!
  23. I know that Forster is our no1. Obviously. But S-Clarke was saying Stekelenberg would still be the no2 even with Forster out injured. That was what I disagreed with, although would be great if it did happen like that. If we sign Stekelenburg it will be to play him for most of the season until Forster is fully fit, not to sit him on the bench. Also expect a GK could be our first signing as a crucial position and by a million miles our weakest currently.
  24. A 32 year old (youngish for a keeper) with 50 caps for Holland is probably unlikely to come in as a backup keeper IMO. Would be great if true, but hard to see. I think it would be the other way around, the younger one would be the no2, for this coming season and when Forster is back.
