Completely agree and really like that strategy. But in the PL, with all the money and glamour, it would not be at all hard to find players who want to come here. I know its hard to get good players like Lovren and Wanyama, but surely its easy for us to replace someone like Hooiveld, at least with a young player who might have some improvement in him. Likewise, there would surely be players who could have an impact from the bench who are better than Guly, or Isgrove who will most likely be released end of season. This season our first XI has been a match for anyone, and with slightly more competent squad players we would probably have 6 or 7 more points, and still be in the race for a top 7 spot. We have 14 or 15 really good players, then the next 6 or so would probably struggle to get into a decent Championship side.

Sky camerman on Twitter @SiCamHD: MP just arrived at the training ground #saintsfc...Also hearing could be developments later today Note: Pretty sure he did this last year and there was nothing.
-
Hopefully Holtby and the Greek lad if they sign him, wont be signed in time to play.
-
Agree re Shaw, Chambers and JWP. Reed, Gallagher and Targett haven't contributed so far really. Not really making any particular point, guess if anything it highlights how good the players we already had were. However, in the last 17 months surely we could have brought in a better CB than Hooiveld?
-
In the last 17 months we have effectively signed two players: Lovren and Wanyama.
-
We would obviously have used Osvaldo though, if he hadn't had the Fonte incident. We will be weaker up front at the end of the window than before, with an out of form/shape Lambert and a rookie 18 year old as the only central options. Jay is better out wide, and we need him there as have such little attacking midfield depth. Certainly a player light in an attacking sense.
-
Dann is on a par with Hooiveld. Hardly missing out.
-
What usually happens is all the Journos will say "A quiet day expected at Saints" obviously apart from the boring Osvaldo saga. The, about 3pm, one of them will say "Just hearing there could be some inward movement at Saints." Then 6pm, "All quiet at St Mary's, no incomings expected with Pochettino happy with his squad." Happens every Jan deadline day.

Looks like everyone will be disappointed. You only have to listen to MP yesterday to see the message he was giving. Nutshell: We trust the young players to step up, and finding the kind of players we want isn't easy so will wait til the summer.

Relax like Mauricio! Still reckon Vela will be incoming tomorrow?
-
Where Lallana plays in the hole? Or out wide where Hughes doesn't play? We don't need him.
-
All the Osvaldo updates are boring. He is going, its pretty obvious.
-
He won't. He is about to sign for the best team in Italy.
-
They are well known friends so not exactly a great scoop. Poch had dinner with them on Cortese's birthday last year I think.
-
Sounds silly but this shows why we have to keep Poch. Players love him, he seems pretty close to them.

Puncheon to Palace - Perm Signing (Confirmed)

We definitely miss an attacking player from the bench. -
Di Marzio says the bonuses we get for the loan make us up financially this season re Osvaldo. Bearing in mind we have probably only paid a few installments we will probably not lose much on him. http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/osvaldo-on-verge-of-joining-juve-the-details/

Apart from its the wrong answer (IMO). Crouch's best part of his game is link up play, which is one of Rhodes' worst. He is a good finisher for certain, but loads of clubs have been unsure about whether he can do it at a higher level, as am I. Based on goal stats we would have gone for Rhodes instead of Jay Rod, but theres a reason why he elected to play for Scotland. He is limited.
-
Looks like the answer is: no.
-
Similar to Crouch in what way?
-
Don'y get the appeal of him. Clearly when you watch him his allround game is poor. He is a good finisher, but IMO just a slight upgrade on Sharp. For a striker to do well in the PL they need better physical attributes than Rhodes who isn't overly strong, nor a great mover.
-
You could do both though. For little cost too. If we had some better attacking options on the bench on Tuesday we would probably have won. The likes of Lallana and Rodriguez get flogged and play way too many minutes because there is nobody else.
-
Definitely would be an attacking player short. Not necessarily a striker but in terms of attacking midfielders we only have two and one is injured for ages.

Basically Gallagher replaces Osvaldo, Targett replaces Fox and KL makes an approx 90k a week saving in the process.
