Dealing with that pressure and showing such good technique is just as worthy a skill as an open play goal, if not more. So many good players can't consistently take good penalites. I agree to an extent, Lambert would actually be very good as the number 10 I think, especially if the striker was quick. He is one of the best passers we have an has a great technique for long range shooting.

It's because we don't play that system. We play with two deeper lying central midfielders. Yes, Chaplow gets in the box but he doesn't play as a "no 10" like Guly and Lallana can, for example the Blackpool cup game.

He certainly said "unlike Championship teams" on Saints Player. To be fair, it is true, Bilbao and Bremen will keep the ball better than teams we will play. Loic Damour impressed on trial for Brighton last week but they aren't signing him. His agent told someone at one of their Friendlies that we were also interested. Captained France U19's and is a good central midfielder - nearly moved to Villa earlier this summer before Houllier left. He is free to leave Strasbourg as they have pretty much gone bust. Brighton forum were raving about him after watching the friendly.

Saw some of that game. I know Real are obviously very good but LA Galaxy were so poor. The Americans might as well give up on football. Plus the crowd and commentators just don't 'get' football at all.

If we sign a striker we should aim for one proven at CCC level, most of ours aren't except Connolly. Le Fondre no better than what we have and not even proven in L1. Decent buy for someone but not us.

Connolly was so classy at the end of last season. I think he will have a big impact if he can stay fit. His movement off the ball and first touch are class.

Me too. And if we look at teams who went up last season they all - especially Norwich and Swansea - passed the ball well, and weren't caught up in the long ball game.

I doubt we will be interested in Maynard at the prices quoted. There is better value around than him.

Where has this Forest rumour come from? I would imagine we are looking for a striker, centre back and maybe a winger. Other positions we are fine, unless someone leaves for any reason.

Sounds promising, Brighton have already brought in 5 or 6 (although have lost 2) so would be good to add some real quality like we have with Cork!
