  1. Mcgugan seems like a tosser.
  2. Lee Cook meet Lee Holmes. Lee Cook is injury prone and overrated. Lee Holmes is also injury prone and overated. Not sure why we would get Cook when we already have Holmes? IMO we should be looking to offload Holmes and bring in someone fresh who has hunger and fitness!
  3. The one year deals make sense. Hope Connolly stays for a year and Gobern is let go to find a L1 club - just not quite good enough sadly!
  4. Yeah Wright is decent. Think his brother is the main guy in that trash TV show The Only Way is Essex.
  5. Squad announced Monday now.
  6. I don't really rate Ings to be honest. Nice header yesyerday but hsi first touch is poor and doesn't have any stand out attributes IMO. Compared with a Connolly, Barnard or Lambert he is nowhere near them.
  7. What is Ishmael Miller up to now? He is a good, strong, quick striker in the CCC.
  8. He is the only one in the Pulis family who would rather Tony was working further down the football pyramid.
  9. UI Article Most Saints fans will welcome the new one year deal awarded to Rahdi Jaidi this week but this could have ramifications to other squad members, althouth Jaidi had a decent season in League One and obviously still has the hunger and desire to keep playin, Saints clearly had issues in the central defensive positions (Clearly judging by how few goals we let in. WTF?). Most Saints supporters I have spoken to whilst appreciative of Jaidi's efforts recognised that if we are to tighten up at the back we really need to sign a truly Championship class central defender to play alongside Fonte (who is saying that we won't?), in fairness to Jaidi and with all respect to him, he will be 36 in August and last season he felt the pace at times and had to be rested, not to mention niggling injuries which are a hazard at that age, Jaidi did well to start 2/3's of the total league games last term, but in truth thats about his maximum given the number of games Saints will play. (Pretty blooming obvious he will play less next season - but thats not a reason not to sign him) This means that Saints either have to rely on what they have or still sign someone as first choice. Taking the option of relying on what we have, that doesnt look that viable at this moment in time, to be blunt Dan Seaborne didnt look comfortable in League one (Seaborne played in a lot of clean sheet games and never really got the run around apart from by CMS at Pboro) and the step up to the Championship might just be a step too far for him, Aaron Martin looks to have promise, but clearly last season Nigel Adkins did not rate him and this showed in the number of games Martin got under him, either Adkins is going to take a great big leap of faith with Martin or we have to go out and buy someone. (Clearly Adkins thought that in a season where you need to go up playing Martin, combined total of about 6 pro football matches was too big a risk. I would say martin is clearly a 4th choice at the moment.) But if we do that we will be top heavy on central defenders, I cannot see the Chairman letting Adkins have the luxury of five centre halves on the books, that being the case at least one will have to go, but will it be Martin who would be the simple option being out of contract, or will we look to try and get at least part of our money back on Seaborne, personally I would go for the latter. (Or, as would be the best situation, Martin goes on loan and we get someone else in to play with Fonte.) My personal view on this contract is we have perhaps let sentiment get in the way of being pragmatic, whilst Jaidi did do a job for Saints, at his age i cannot see him being up to the pressures of the Championship, he was caught out for pace at times in League One (Even though he is slow I can't remember many of these?) and like many of his co defenders was prone to the odd individual error or two as was shown at Brighton & Walsall (All defenders make mistakes, you don't mention all the headers he won - over 90% surely) a good option for cover perhaps (And Im sure thats why he has been kept), but if we are looking to press on, not the man for the job (Yet people wanted us to sign Darren Moore for the Champ a few years ago), I hope Im proved wrong, but this deal will start to show Saints intent for next season, either we are going to be satisfied with what we have already got for next year at the back or this is the start of a rebuilding programme that will see new signings but will spell the end of their Saints careers for Martin & Seaborne or possibly both. (Again, Martin clearly needs to be loaned out, not necessarily let go) Some poor stuff in this article.
  10. Good deal - Jaidi still has a lot to offer in certain games and a lot of experience!
  11. Stephens is clearly a good passer, just needs a bit more authority in the middle. Sure we could develop him into a good player.
  12. He would already be about 4th choice wide player for me (if that), and thats before we improve the squad.
  13. Lots of interest has to be good for us, and he still has a while on his contract. Got to be a fee of between 750k -1m IMO. He is only 24 as well.
  14. Good summary.
  15. Get rid if possible, contributes nothing - no room for sentiment.
  16. Brighton top scorer Glenn Murray signing for Palace on a free according to the Standard.
  17. Surely there will be, loads of people will want one.
  18. Haha classic stuff!
  19. Federico Arias - the Torpedo. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/2635311.stm
  20. Even Shane Long, quoted at 6m recently. Jeez people haven't got a clue.
  21. Sorry but I have not seen this. He might drop deep or move out to the left but he has never played "centre midfield" for us.
  22. Nugent is a poor player - wouldn't want him regardless of his Pompey connection.
  23. Very true - Im sure Adkins has some difficult calls to make. I think personally that Jaidi would still do a great job against certain teams, and is worth keeping for a year. He has played most of our games this season and hasn't been totally ripped apart once from memory. I think the suprise could be with the full backs. Agree re Gobern - hasn't showed enough.
  24. In the context of that quote I think he meant when you lose players through injury you need to have good ones to bring in.
  25. The club has to be ruthless, if we do want to challenge near the top of the CCC then players like Gobern will have no part to play in that.
