Nothing new from 5live, Adkins favourite. Appointment for next game. -
5live, on in 1 min
-
So you have heard some rumours then?
-
At 9 is the Football League show but are you saying that it might reveal some fresh news?
-
Brown is so annoying and hard to respect. Did a good job with Hull for a bit and then a very **** job for a bit. Would prefer Adkins of the two.
-
Despise Phil Brown and all he represents. But will support him if NC picks him.
-
BTW just listened to the 5live clip from Sat and it didn't mention "wow factor" just the appointment would "show SFC fans that Cortese knows what he is doing".
-
YOU CAN STOP IT NOW CORTESE..pick up the phone

You mean Cortese simply asking advice from someone? -
Jewell is a joker.

MON would certainly be wow! Just can't believe he would be interested. -
Legod Third Coming - good thread. Main difference here being that the new manager will have been picked by Reed at least partly and will know the role they are being offered and where the interaction with Reed lies - better than we will. Lets see who we get because that person will be very prepared to work with (not under) Les Reed. Again, check out the opinions of this guy in relation to DoF's etc http://www.twitter.com/karlsentk The key is that the manager wont have Reed put upon him but will have been identified to work alongside Reed, by Reed and with full knowledge of this. It is fair to say in Eng we have never got the DoF role right. If it is done properly then no reason why it wouldn't be ok.

I got a PM from a very good source who found out that Deppo is actually Alpine's other login. Can't see it myself....
-
Yeah, thanks to Patreds PM. Definately a wow factor Depps!

Look, Reed is here to stay some might as well get used to it. He is well respected within football and has some nous, afterall he created the Pro License. The key here is that the new manager will know what his role and Reed's will be there will be trust in the process. Then this system can work. Too often in the DoF role he is brought in and then upsets the manager who doesnt like it. In this situation that wont happen so it should work fine. For some interesting insight on this see this guys twitter who has worked as a scout and footy consultant. http://www.twitter.com/karlsentk He replied to my question on suggestions for our new manager saying, 'Les Reed is a fine football man. He won't need my tips or reccomendations.'

Also remember that as well as Howe getting Cherries promoted he also miraculously saved them from dropping out of the FL. Would be a great appointment, probably the most well regarded young manager outside the Prem. But Adkins has slightly more experience which may sway Cortese.
-
Phil Brown is a tit. Would much prefer Adkins or Howe.
-
Where has that Leonardo link come from? Also lets calm down on this 'wow' factor. Cortese hasn't said this, it was R5L speculation that may not be based on a whole lot!
-
Hope Brown gets nowhere near the job. ****.
-
Lol at these morons.

Ok being as pedantic as ever. I was meaning in the last 10 or so years. Pearson didn't really stay long enough to have a long term impact but fair point. Would be good to have someone with ambition and drive, not just someone who couldnt really care about the club looking for a pay day.

Adkins has done a great job as has Howe. Would be a refreshing change and I think both these have the personality to succeed at Saints and climb up the leagues with us. Howe certainly will get a Prem job at some point in his career so we might as well rise up the leagues with him. Just because someone hasnt been given a chance up their it doesn't mean they couldn't do it. Just needs the right type, which Sturrock clearly wasn't. Howe would be a breath of fresh air IMO and with bettter players at his disposal would work wonders. Much preffered to a merry go round manager who has managed, but ultimately failed in the Prem ie Dowie, Hart, Brown. We have never really had a young up and coming manager so bring it on.

Like all sports columns, he tells a journo over the phone and they type it up! And twitter is only 140 character messages.
