Didn't expect much from this game, so not exactly disappointed. But there's a huge change needed, our midfield has been awful all season. We all complain about strikers, but I think the lack of midfield has really been the main issue. We are chasing every game, when was the last time we were dominant? Liverpool make two passes and they are running at the CBs. Let's just keep it tight second half and not get a walloping

We've had 24 hours to come around to the idea of Jones taking over. Now the shock has worn off, I am starting to see the logic behind it. He's a man manager, someone to pick the players up and build confidence. Which is exactly what we need. Strikers need confidence, Che has those purple patches each season where he scores a few, you see his confidence and it looks like hes a real player. JWP looks like a shadow of his former self, he needs an arm around the shoulder to get over his World Cup omission. The young players need someone to keep them going. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly better managers out there, but maybe this appointment can work. People are bemoaning his long ball tactics, but we are deep in the shit. Staying up is top priority and if we have to grind out some points playing ugly football then so be it.

Going by this, we know Adams hold up play is actually pretty good. Who is the other striker to be the "runner"? I guess Mara, maybe Theo? I think the players in the squad actually fill the jobs needed for that formation. Three centre backs, one can push up. Yeah we got that. Wing backs that push forward, yup. Midfield BMW, that's Lavia. JWP and Stu playing further forward will do a job. Che for the holdup play, then the other striker (this will be the problem, but we knew that). It's crude, but it kinda fits.
