When my son plays in the Under 10s, I say to him to enjoy the game, don't worry about the result, just have fun. I'll tell myself that at 5:30, maybe the crowd will sing something funny, a dog will run on the pitch, maybe someone falls over. I'll be looking to find the thing that makes me smile, not worried about what happens on the pitch. (Yes it's come to this).
