  1. I could see Warnock bidding for him. Whilst I'm there... It's worth remembering that QPR are richer than us and a Premier League a now, and they've not signed anyone (to my knowledge). They're supposedly in for Jimmy Bullard but that's about it. Are their fans going mental about it?
  2. 'Running in the Family' - Level 42. Was playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City earlier, got me in an 80s mood.
  3. Emergency temporal shift somewhere else. Go on.
  4. Indeed, though despite my reservations over Baldock's ability (especially considering his price tag), Peterborough have a decent record in identifying talent. Craig Mackail-Smith, George Boyd and Aaron McLean were all plucked from non-league for example. A friend of mine remembers watching McLean play for Aldershot, said he was okay but not great. He apparently didn't get on with Terry Brown, who's now AFC Wimbledon's manager. Who knows, he could prove me wrong, but given how much the Franchise want for him, no thanks. UPDATE: I've just been informed he's rejected a move to Peterborough.
  5. We've got better options already, plus the Franchise are asking for a big fee. Peterborough are welcome to him if you ask me!
  6. Peterborough have had a bid accepted for Sam Baldock. Given the Franchise kept rejecting offers for him, it's going to be a hefty fee for an average player. So. Is that the kind of spending we should emulate? No. No it is not. We should spend when the time is right for us and when a quality player that adds something to the squad becomes available.
  7. Hmm. Interesting.
  8. In a way we aren't much better than Arsenal. Theo was at Swindon's youth set up, Lallana was at Bournemouth's. But you'd think that a club the size of Arsenal, in a city the size of London, would find more of their own players rather than going around nicking others and 'developing' them. Matthew Upson and their current prodigy Jack Wilshere were both at Luton at a young age. In my opinion, Theo hasn't progressed all that much, or at least certainly not as much as he should have done or many thought he should have done. The comments about a lack of footballing brain are right in my opinion. But then again he's scored one more hat-trick for England than I have...! I was speaking to Peter Marinello a few months ago and he said he was disappointed with him, and he ought to know a thing or two about promising wingers. Indeed, I quite agree. It's all very well signing 'ones for the future', but they've been saying that for years. It doesn't appear to have worked.
  9. I don't feel great about getting annoyed about him. But it was more the frustration at near enough every single post I've made recently being dissected, taken 100% literally, corrected, and such. Not to mention having facts I already know, that most people know in fact, pointed out. There's no need for that. It ends now though. Still not happy about Arsenal taking two of our most talented players, if indeed Ox does go there, getting back to the topic.
  10. There's a difference between making a living and doing something in your spare time. Consider yourself ignored.
  11. In fact I'll just put him on the ignore list. One of us has to be an adult about it...
  12. You wouldn't have the balls to criticise my occupation to my face, so I wouldn't try and do it here. Do you actually take everything so literally? Or are you completely oblivious to the fact I was making a passing comment about our best young players going to Arsenal. You probably were. I'm going to ask you nicely - please don't quote me again or comment on my posts. You're incredibly obnoxious and are getting on my nerves. I'd rather you just be quiet.
  13. What gets me is you GENUINELY think I don't know stuff like that. I report on football for a living for ****s sake, not enter numbers next to boxes. I echo Thedelldays and Hypochondriac. Just shut up.
  14. You are SUCH a bore. Stop commenting on my posts, its like a fly buzzing round a pile of ****. Not that my posts are ****. It's a metaphor.
  15. Don't know if anyone will agree but I think Chamberlain is more promising than Theo was at that age. Granted, Theo played in the Championship for us and Ox has played at League One level, but he has both pace and skill, which for me is a better proposition. So in that case given the ridiculous nature of young English players and their transfer fees, I'd want more than £10 million. Oh and it annoys me that we're a ****ing feeder team for Arsenal. If you look at their record closely, they produce very few of their own players. They're all nicked at some stage. But I'm guessing we're not much better either...
  16. Daily Star: "Arsenal will confirm the £10m signing of Southampton starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as early as next week." http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/198293/Arsenal-to-sign-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-/
  17. Now you see, I still get the gas thing with snack eggs. It's a strange phenomenon.
  18. I'm jealous, I must confess.
  19. How about... A rumour we all wished was fake, but sadly they did indeed put pen to paper. Jason St. Juste
  20. To be honest, it smacks of this Let's Settle For the Play-Offs The idea of the thread. Not so much the nastiness at the thread's author.
  21. Quite amusing. Second post kind of echoes what I'm thinking.
  22. Equally as valid. I always thought back in 06/07 that spending as much as we did was absolutely horrific, I wouldn't want to see us do it again now even with our financial security. The other thing is, is it a case of Adkins asking? Pardew said he'd deliver the play-offs if we invested in the January 2010 window. He failed to deliver and (in my view) it is that broken promise that led to his dismissal. If Nigel asks for a certain amount of money for a player, saying it will be a good signing that will give the team a boost, will we pay out for him?
  23. Okay well, look at it this way. How much should we spend on a single player? Would £3 million for someone be too much? AND How much should we spend overall? We paid about £7 million in 06/07, should we spend that much again?
  24. No. We must not spend now. We should spend if the player is right and the price is fair.
