  1. Easily IMO the best performance this season and the most enjoyable I have seen for some time. After Saturday James had his own thread dedicated to slagging him off so I think he deserves a big mention, my MOTM whilst in central midfield (shame he's not on the list so I cannot vote for him) but I could also argue a case for a few others. Lambert wins just about everything in the air and the sooner players realise this and gamble on his flick ons the better. I agree that Murty's injury disrupted us but I also think a we ran out of steam in the last 20 however I can forgive that us they were so impressive before that.
  2. I couldn't agree less. I think he's the best crosser in the team, or close to it along with Murty. I do agree that we need some wide men to get to the byline but I personally would not criticise a fullback for that - IMO the problem is we do not have any genuine wide players which seems to be a position that we fill in with guys who deserve a game but cannot fit in anywhere else.

  4. Let's remember he is our second choice right back. Goal aside I thought James had a reasonable game, not great but not awful (which I would say for most of them). He can certainly cross a good ball and from deep positions. I do agree that Thomson was dissapointing as was Mellis in the first half, particularly when he was playing on the left side. IMO we need some pace in the side, something I thought Thomson possesed but showed no evidence of.
  5. I think our defending at set plays is a factor, at corners in particular. What ever you feel about Wotton I think you'll agree that he is more of a presence when the ball is knocked into the box. I suspect Gilltet's time may come if/when we sign (and play) another ball winning centre half alongside Thomas.
  6. Hey, you can't blame a guy for dreaming! I know it's a long shot but you never know.
  7. This is a shot in the dark but I notice Tunisia have a game on Wednesday, if Jaidi played would this put him over the 75% mark? It might explian why Saints have (allegedly) not applied for a permit, maybe they are waiting?
  8. I agree - I would be very surprised if he came back to the club in any capacity that may step on the toes of AP (which IMO DOF would) but I reckon putting him in charge of the academy my be a good fit. I seem to recall reading somewhere that he wanted to get involved in that side of things but it may be my memory playing tricks.
  9. Posatives for me were the defense, both full backs were excellent and whilst Thomas is agricultural he did it well, it did for me highlight how much we need a backup "big bruising CB". Schniederlin I thought was good but it was a his lazy pass which gave them possesion for the penalty and ultimately the goal. I was impressed with Patterson and really pleased to see he scored but I was dissapointed with Saga - he didn't play badly but I would not have tagged him as a current international. All in all not a bad start - I am doing my test to obey what the gaffer has been saying and be patient, hopefully the first team will only get stronger from here (apart from Tuesday when I suspect a few youngsters will be blooded).
  10. On second thoughts I stand corrected - my mistake.
  11. Not that I really care anymore but for the record we would be on -10 regardless of when we went into admin beacuse we finished in the bottom 3. The 10 points would only have been taken off last season if we had finished outside the bottom 3.
  12. Pardew interview on Saints Player backs up even more what comes across in the interview on the OS. Says the deal is "slipping away" for reasons that he does not want to discuss as it would be unfair to the player and the club.
  13. Let's not assume that because he hasn't signed it means Saints have not offered him a good deal. I'll be VERY pleased if he signs but equally I would hate to think the club are blackmailed into paying more than a fair wage for this league. For the short term (whilst we are on -10) we are not in best negotiating position and we are bordering on desperate to get a few bodies in (IMO) but let's not panic. As unexciting as it is sounds it make take a season of consolidation before we can start making the strides forward that we are all so desperate to see.
  14. This is easy to fix. Any students studying for a degree pay £10 less for a ticket and anyone with a degree pays £20 more (as they are obvioulsy earning mega bucks) - problem solved.
  15. Don't see a problem with this, it's what I would expect with a professional organisation. Crikey if RL had employed a “spin doctor” they may have told him what a prat he was about to make of himself before he opened his gob. For the dream to work it's very important that the club eventually get the stadium full and to achieve that they need to understand what the fans want (and don't want) – hopefully that's part of the PR companies remit.
