I've said for a while that this pre-season & up to this points is eerily similar to the end of Pardew. Most likely boll.oxs but I just can't shift that feeling.

I finally understood what a sad fu.cker I am when I bought tickets to this simply to tick a ground off. I really need a life.

I wonder how many people can't afford 2 games in a week & have therefore opted, understandably, for the Utd game?? B-i-L has done just that for him & his 2 lads & he will continue to do it through the season.

Not a clue but I knew about JR due to a friend who works in a senior position in Burnley & the Clyne info came from a poster on here with connections at Palace. Both were correct. Sometimes it's connections away from our club that pay the biggest dividends.

NA has stated his desire to bring 2xCB, wingers, LB etc. It's on the record, so it's hardly a case of knowing the ins & outs of the clubs transfer policy. Why are folk so determined to ignore those facts? Are they too scared to recognise that we have issues to address?

I saw far more to concern me than console me I'm afraid. Square pegs in round holes designed for a system that we don't have the players for & a CB pairing that is far too weak at this level not to mention a LB that has already been found seriously wanting. I looked towards the bench & thought how/what do we change and the cupboard was bare. This week is crucial to our season. Not bothered by the results in the next two matches but we must bring in pace, guile & strength in key positions or we are going to be in serious trouble.

We had plenty of time on the ball at the back as teams are quite happy to give up possession there but we used it poorly & often resorted to a big hoof & possession was invariably lost. As soon as the ball was moved into midfield we were harried & bullied until possession was lost. I walked back to the car knowing it was going to be a long bleak season & for the 1st time wondered if NA was out of his depth.

Done Seville. Prague is now off the list but we are doing Mon-Thurs to avoid stag dos etc.

What was more telling was the empty boxes etc. The club have seriously overpriced everything corporate.

But we didn't so no point in playing "what if"?

When we went 4-4-2 they simply over ran us & the wide players tucked too far in giving us no width. We need pace desperately & we've all known this all summer.

4-3-3, which look far too much like 4-5-1 to me, wastes JR. Pointless buying a player like that then sticking him out wide. We haven't the players with pace to play 4-3-3. We are far to ponderous getting forward. All in all it was pretty gash today but my nipper got to stand up for 90mins & sing so he's happy.

I would expect Lee to play on Tuesday and be involved on Sunday. We are so in need of his pace.

The only boos I heard we aimed directly at the ref, punctuated with you fu.cking pr.ick etc....
