Well for a start we are already four points down on the comparative results from last year. Fairly nonsensical for either side of the debate to count pre season games as an indicator of form. It's too early to say definitively that this formation has made us worse, but the initial signs are certainly not promising.

That's nonsense abd no reason to think that at all so clear speculation. As I said we will definitely be signing another player and anyone who thinks otherwise is hard of thinking.

The evidence of the last four years clearly shows that we have done a lot of business towards the end of the window and that we have often said we are happy with what we have but buy players anyway. We have no history of bringing so much money in and then not spending any of it. We will buy one probably two players and you will be eating eating humble pie as you put it. Other less polite people would call it looking like a reactionary fool.

Well that abd the fact that most Olympic sports are minority ones so statistically you're competing with a tiny percentage of the population. It's going to be easier to get to the top in rowing for example than it is in football.

Nothing wrong with giving some opinions on puel provided it's with the caveat that it's early days and liable to change. In my opinion initial signs are not promising. As others have said he seems rather dull and uninspired. The evidence from pre season and Watford is that we seem quite rigid and trying to fit some of our players into a diamond formation will not work. Plenty of time to improve but I think it's fair to say that most won't be feeling as confident about things as they did under koeman- I know I'm not.

I will say though that it's pretty silly to suggest it's as black and white as not spending much or doing a pompey. A middle ground between those two extremes would be just fine.

If we get to the end of the window and we are still weaker than last year with a fairly uninspiring manager, a formation we are struggling to get to grips with and square pegs in round holes then will be the time to panic.

I expect Fonte would be interested if United do want him. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go. All that stuff about him being in some sort of victoriois trance that we hope he will snap out of is clearly utter b*locks though. That's not refusing to believe what someone has posted because it's negative, it's using common sense and realising that's not how human beings behave.

It was absolutely nothing like a poch team. We weren't pressing for a start and we really struggled to keep possession, particularly before the sending off. There were some positives but I still think we are not certain how we want to play.

Can't agree with you there. The last half an hour was a lot better abd especially after the sending off but before then we were struggling to create anything. Soares and romeu were particularly poor and we just couldn't keep the ball. I think better teams will outmuscle us in the middle so hojburg is a must. We still need some attacking creativity for me but redmond really did well in the second half. Overall some positives but I'm not convinced by this new formation yet.

Agreed. Seems a very functional but fairly dull lineup. Let's hope for a good performance and win regardless!
