  1. No, and for the same reasons I gave in the "Tonda Eckert" forum Discussion. I do worry that the FA will take the decision out of our hands, though:
  2. Tonda being named in the report was baked into the price when this debate first arose, at least from my personal perspective. Will Sacking Tonda make us any more palatable to the Media? No. We will have this hanging over us for the next year, whichever course we decide. Will Sacking Tonda Leave us better off in terms of Achieving Promotion next year? Also no. It will make it infinitely harder. Our rivals are probably desperately hoping we make such a move and finish outside the top 8, wasting another year of Parachute Payments. Will Sacking Tonda Reinstate us in this year's Play-off Final? No. Nothing can change that at this point, so it's abscence is not a factor. And will Sacking Tonda make it more likely that critical Player identification and acquisition will improve? Seeing as Bree returned, Peretz and Larin were regained or loaned in important positions under his watch, again, no. For all the hand-wringing moralising in the report, this isn't a Land Baron employing children to work in coal mines. Did Tonda try to gain us Maximum Sporting Advantage? Of Course. But so do 1000 teams who break a million rules related to fair play every day. Teams that dive, go down with fake injuries, or (allegedly) financially dope. Some people might claim that Tonda has to go, and "It's the Right thing". Be the honest club. This approach has never helped us. It didn't help when Gabbiadini wasn't offside. It didn't help when Newcastle exploited Covid rules. And it didn't help trying to compete in a league containing teams that (allegedly) work outside the agreed Financial structure. For the next few days, this is news. Then the World Cup hype begins. Interest in us goes away. As long as Tonda is not banned, we quietly get on with the business of retaining as much of the squad as possible, and recruiting where we need to. We realise that the chants from away fans are there anyway, get on with it, and aim for the top 8. Unless anyone knows of a Top Manager that will come to us in these circumstances?
  3. As I posted in the expelled thread: I have no doubt Saints will be under huge pressure from the media and Rival clubs to Sack Tonda. I believe this is in no small part due to the fact that we only have to finish 8th next season to reach the play-offs. If you are involved in any championship club, ensuring that Southampton jettisons a very good manager, while simultaneously being put in a position of trying to hire anyone while radioactive to the world at large would be a number one priority. Given this, unless he is banned, I hope we keep Tonda.
  4. Tonda, and his staff (and this is presuming there is no ban from the FA) must stay. Because the successful media firestorm has made us toxic, and we won't appoint anyone better. We would be reduced to the retired and the inept. Keep whoever is willing out of Peretz, Larin (harder, as they are loans), Scienza, THB, Bree and Jander. We have many excellent players, but I believe those would be the hardest to retain. If Parsons has taken the path of admitting to everything, advising Tonda and his staff to admit to everything, and overseeing a process where outgoing staff are not given NDA's, on top of not hiring a Legal team specialising in prevarication at the first whisper of anything amiss, and allowing Middlesborough comms to leak, dominate, and set the agenda, then he must step down. Additionally, offer one free ticket to a game next season to anyone who bought a playoff final ticket. 37000 sold, so the tickets would have to be spread over the first 3 or 4 games. Realistically speaking, that would be a good first day of Recovery. Onwards to the Top 8 next year!
  5. Seems to have the Shane Long DNA that allows you to draw a foul, no matter where he is on the pitch!

    Will Still

The Next 4 league games are Hull, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, and Derby. By then, I will be judging Still on formation, system of play and league position. Players should be fully bedded in at this point. So he will either rise or fall on those results. I think (and hope) he will succeed. But we should have a much greater indication at this point. I won't be holding the Liverpool game against him, unless we lose to their under-12 side. P.S. What has happened to Flynn Downes?

    Will Still

If he is still playing 5 at the back when all the new signings are fit and eligible to start, I will judge him for it then. I believe (hope) the shape of the team will be addressed when we have everyone bedded in.
  8. On paper, Three Kings for an Ace seems like excellent business. Hopefully, it will work out better than when the Daily Echo declared the same for us bringing in Mark Hughes, Stuart Ripley, and David Howells, after the Kevin Davies Sale. As long as Mads keep up his good start, make him the captain, and we will have a reinvigorated team, free of scar tissue. 😏
  9. The pseud's favourite, with all the charisma and knowledge of a guy who completed a two-day 'leadership' course and decided to make every generalised point a personal life mantra, and every adjustment for a reality an admittance of weakness, is now being shown up for the utter fraud he is. I'm just not sure what would be funnier, him being sacked before his first Old Firm Derby, or being hammered very publicly in a world-famous match against Celtic. I'm leaning towards the latter.
  10. That looks like an incredibly Serene watch (and guide for future walks!). And while I have already seen the map, I thank you for it! The Old Hamlet of Dean is given as one of three sources I have seen, along with Vernon Hill and the 'boiling' waters of the Bishop's Waltham Moors!
  11. Hello All. I'm planning a walk for a group of friends, and one of the top requests is the source to sea for the River Hamble. There are many beautiful locations along the river, but one problem is that I've been given different search results for the source of the Hamble. Has anyone completed the walk, or does anyone know of the definitive 'Official' source/start point?
  12. Ryan Fraser, Newcastle to Southampton.
  13. A long-term problem that has been rewarded for a lack of improvement, and bizarrely, has only seen his influence grow. A loan, with a view to a contract cancellation/free transfer, would be best all round.

First of all, thank you for posting it here. Secondly, the ginger hair and mumbling makes me think of Shy Ronnie. But after the miserable season we've all just endured, I'm willing to give the man a chance, especially given that his record is reasonable, and his appointment has been made before the end of the season, giving time for a summer of Assessment, transfers that are targeted rather than reactive, and a full pre season to bed in tactical play. Here's hoping for a brighter future! Good Luck Will, and Good luck to us watching!
