who thinks it's gonna be another last day relegation fight?
NickG replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
fair points thanks. I would say I have seen many worse performances that Saturday -we had possession and chances but let ourselves down badly at both ends. Would have been even more depressed if we had not had any chances and they were all over us creating chances. Putting way penalties and basic defensive heading should! be achievable to sort. Things do need to change, that team/performance I agree is not good enough to stay up. -
at last! (you saw it differently did you? note "could" not "would") Agree with the rest?
-
its far from pretty picture. I would happily wager that we won;t be relegated by Christmas - but that is hardly rose tinted glasses saying we are the best side going. Please see my last post in other thread as to why I think we will be safe -not just at christmas but at end of season. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=80594&postcount=48

sorry to quote myself -but wanted points all together. I think we will be safe and have explained why. Why do the several posters who think we will be relegated before the end of the season (quite unusual) think that? It sounds crass to say except the three goals etc but the defence urgently needs sorting -but even with that we are no where near relegation before end of season form -

a season going how bookies predict would not really be up there with healing lepers! -
Euell and Schneiderlin are not fit
-
more likely than us being relegated by Christmas as on other thread!

if things don't change is it not safe to say the current trend will continue? Which, based on current form puts us firmly mid-table. Maybe they will change as I guess other teams around us do not have some combination of Schneiderlin, Euell, Gillet, Thomas, Svennson and Skacel to return. Gaps opening up? We are 3 points clear of relegation zone -not a big gap, but 3 points the other way takes you to 16th -and interestingly Watford -but for a poor ref decison in first 5 mins could have been so different. A further 1 point takes you to play offs. We do not need a couple of wins to take us to safe position -we are there. A couple of wins in this division, contrary to what you say, with small close gaps is more likely to have you looking towards a play off position. -
why 10,000? its was just under 18,000 wasn't it?
-
don't think you have. should only be a game away

why? see my post above, genuine question as to why current form has us doing better etc -
John back from international duty, Skacel recalled. Gasmi, Schneiderlin and Euell will play for reserves

didn't come up with it last time he talked about it in echo

Current form, last 6 games is usually good indications of where teams are heading has us 13th. None of the bookies have us in bottom three. League table doesn't have us in bottom three. we are without Schneiderlin and Holmes and Euell Do you think the supporters of the other bottom clubs are thinking saints will have one of the places sown up before end of season. -
Still not convinced on the NP v JP comparison yet. really liked Lucketti last year, his spirit, diving head first to the ball etc would have made a big difference Saturday.
-
great to see it working, funny old game -imagine if -without the benefit of hindsight -we appointed Brown and signed Windass.
-
Phil Brown was there in Dec 2006 -so therefore there when they were 18th in CCC.
-
Not sure why you might believe I would disagree with that -most I agree with totally. Only thing I would add is that I do not know the finances so don't know what pressure various wages cause.
-
did they change manager / chairman at that time? I can't remember
-
Would this current Saints side survive in league 1?
NickG replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
that would be different - 15 points down and administrator selling everyone, we would be struggling. -
trouble is we don't know the true financial picture, think it is clear we are broke and don't have money to spend -but how much we need to raise who knows. Local radio at the weekend said we were just short of a break even crowd.

on MOTD2 thet showed todays premiership table and 12 months ago CCC. Hull went from 18th in CCC to 3rd in premiership -amazing performance. Although we are far far from showing any improvement let alone that sort of thing, but to me that is one of the reasons I always will support saints, the dream that one day things will change and when they do we can, in relatively short period rise again, can't we?
