I know its all about opinions but WHY? I saw every home game he played last year and thought he was useless. Gets the ball in his own half, does a little sprint when no-one is near (good for raising crowd and tempo admittedly) then a few step over before giving the ball away and putting us under pressure -all without leaving his own half. Add to that unfit, slow, unable to shoot, unable to pass and a poor attitude. Apart from that he was ok! Thought that his second rate Ronaldo impression only impressed kids.

Is player skill or commitment more important currently?

neither, totally committed player who can't play at all is useless and so is talented player standing around - a player needs a combination as does a team -
Poll : Adam Hammill Or Bradley Wright Philips On The Wing
NickG replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
BWP is not a winger but sometimes is effective. Hammill is one of the poorest players I have seen in a Saints shirt in the last 30 years -
thought Hammil had a lot of the ball but was very very poor -giving the ball away and being caught in possession trying to be over elaborate (more than his ability allows). Holmes was head and shoulders better

Very fair point. Thought our football looked good in preseason and Bham games, with Gillet playing better than I thought he could. Against Blackpool thought he was one of the main problems -not looking to destroy him but in that pivotal role if he is off form then the team is. That and the absense of Holmes and Schneiderlin have been our big problem. It is easy to get caught up in debates over ages of players or formations but the issue is having enough good players.

as we were well clear if it last year!
-
have you seen Lallana this season?
-
I can see a flaw in your prediction - surely now Lowe must do the opposite?
-
sorry I got it wrong first off.

Bart Cork Svensson Perry Mills Wooton Surman James BWP Lallana MCG (I do get James and thomson muddled up! so might have that wrong -was trying to type as they were saying it on radio. They were talking about Surman playing infront of Mills)

Daily Echo - LALLANA Fulham bid rejected...SPURS INTEREST TOO
NickG replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
more excited about his potential than most players (bar Walcott) for years -including likes of Bale. Think he could be very special. So comfortable on the ball -
Newcastle have appointed Seymuor Price to sell them
-
I disagree, Mill looked nervous at times and a bit like a debutant but thought he looked very quick. Couple of times their very fast winger was awaybut he kept with him -Surman would have struggled.
-
I only pointed out that you wrote him off, said he was deluded, lied about not feeling knee after some games and not being in agony and was a cripple. I reported facts for others info from direct quotes heard on local radio and people I knew. You gloated that he missed the game. Very disappointing from a Saints fan.
-
think he did well lately. Much better than likes of Wright and Jesus. Think he was Plymouth capt when he was about 20 -we have been lacking a strong character and I think that is the main reason he was signed. I don't think it is relevant to keep putting him down due to being released by Plymouth for two reasons; 1) we are not a top club anymore 2) their needs might have been different
-
fairly lively but didn't get in the game as much as I would have hoped -whether down to him or service hard to say. Thought he deserved place after his subs appearance a few days before.
-
I know, but early days. How far up will they go? at the moment I would prefer our team, our division, our manager - 12 months time who knows? Which chairman??!! Think you probably have used the only club where I would prefer ours! -maybe
-
never met him. He was injured and didn't play. I am hoping its not too bad and is back soon. You? (funny when you were quoted showing that you thought he was lying, deluded and a cripple you went very quiet and didn't mention him, we lose and you get full of yourself again...strange. Read my comments on his health and you will not find anything that is not true - you, you just make things up to get attention)
-
no, this season is far from over for either club. Would not want their chairman. Why choose to go down?

did well coming off the bench midweek and was due to start yesterday but had a tight hamstring in training on Friday and so was not fit for yesterdays game
