  1. Also excellent
  2. Well sure as hell they didn't !
  3. Quite possibly along with Garston !
  4. My God, we do have some morons on here. Has the stench in Southsea addled your brain or something ?
  5. Only "quality" if you happen to be a mindless, clueless half wit. Could only watch 90 seconds, had to have more than one cat put down to stop it suffering, not a nice experience at all though at least I know they were well looked after when they were alive.
  6. I fear it may be getting even worse. Kabir Ali has only bowled 2.1 overs so I'm guessing that maybe he is injured ?
  7. Wagh reaches 50 off only 42 balls, meanwhile Shafayat has 7 off 45 balls.67/1.
  8. Well they still need 188 so it is not over yet ! Any rain clouds though over Southampton
  9. Wagh 44* off 34 balls
  10. Could be academic, 7/0 off 1 over!
  11. Agreed, I just checked a post from the Hants v Essex game from the reliable Weston Saint: "Rules for last day state minimum of 80 overs and then 1 final hour when a mininum of 16 overs need to be bowled. "
  12. I think it is you know, 96 was my calculation to reach 63. 31 used as part overs count, 2 for change of innings and there you have it !
  13. Are you sure it is 70 overs ? You may well be right, I can never blooming remember !
  14. 273 all out so Notts need 245 off something like 63 overs I believe ? I'm sure they'll go for it at about 4 an over so a result is definitely on. Time we managed to be on the right end of one of these last day finishes. Come on Hants
  15. 268/9 at lunch so we could have an interesting last 2 sessions with a lead now of 239. Ervine is 44 not out and Griffiths 5, so far a very useful 23 for the last wicket and equally importantly batted for some 45 minutes already. Cork/Ervine put on 48 but 3 wickets for 1 run almost scuppered our chances.
  16. Just a brief word on the other Chester races, nothing strong but if I were playing in each race: 2.15 Tamathul @ 11/2 Plenty of promise at 2 yrs, winning 7f maiden. Hugely encouraging reappearance in 1¼m handicap at Newmarket last month and fact shrewd trainer is prepared to risk exploitable mark looks significant. 3.15 Duchess Dora @ 5/2 : Likely to be between Duchess Dora and the other market leader Falasteen with Archers Road certainly not without chances at a decent price- currently 9/1 in places 3.55 Safina @ 8/13. Very short but surely the one to beat. Top-class pedigree and confirmed debut promise when fourth in Group 3 company on reappearance. Sets a very useful standard back in a maiden and a very probable winner.
  17. Chester: 1.45 Webbow @ 9/1 (General) Invincible @ 11/1 (General) Webbow has the best of the draw and isn't ground dependent. He will be a live threat if he is anywhere near the pacesetters coming round the final bend. He may have to be ridden more prominently than usual and that is the major concern. Stable are in form and they have made an eye-catching jockey booking (1 from 3 for the yard). Invincible Force has a poor draw to overcome but he has run plenty of good races here, winning three times, and returned with a good fourth in the Thirsk Hunt Cup last week. That should've put him spot on for this. 4.30 - Desert Dreamer - @ 33/1 (General) Another at a big price in this wide open race. Desert Dreamer hasn't been at his best this season but he is always likely to be seen at his best given a good gallop round a tight track. Poorly drawn but lies to drop in and come from off the pace. At a huge price he looks worth a small e/w consideration. Nottingam 4.10 - Hawaana - e/w. Available at 16/1 (General) Having already had a few quid on Mons Calpe I'm doing the same on Hawaana who is beginning to look well handicapped and hasn't been running badly on the A/W. Seen mostly over 7/8 furlongs but has suggested on a number of occasions that further would suit and he hasn't been disgraced in the few outings he has been seen over 9/10 furlongs. Handles ground on the slow and fast side of good and went well for today's three pound claimer in two A/W handicaps in December from much higher marks. Represents a yard beginning to find their form. 4.45 - Nottingham - Cheap Street - e/w. @ 16/1 (Ladbrokes) Losing run now stretches back to October 2006 but on a dangerously-low handicap mark as a result. May need this reappearance so small stakes only. Aintree 8.40 - Word Of Warning - e/w. @ 14/1 (General) Won 2½m novices at Bangor and Sedgefield last summer. Not discredited over 2m on recent return from 8 months off and step back up to this trip should suit. Denis O'Regan takes the ride and I think this can go close at a decent price.
  18. 209/6 so a lead of 180 with Ervine and Cork in. Still could yet be an interesting game especially if we can get a lead of 250, Herath might find some turn on the 4th day.
  19. Ahem, you were saying !
  20. Chester really doesn't look any easier today but here we go anyway: Chester 2.45 Harbinger @5/6 : This looks to be one of the less competitive races with Harbinger a clear favourite and Age of Aquarius clear 2nd best in the market. Harbinger is a progressive colt who made impressive return in the John Porter at Newbury, streaking clear of Manifest. Extra 1f unlikely to pose much of a problem and looks set for a really good season. Only the short price, managed Evens on BF, stops this being my NAP but I expect his extra race sharpness will prove to much for Age of Aquarius on his seasonal debut. 4.30 Lucky Numbers @11/2 : A wide open race but with a plumb draw in stall one Lucky Numbers along with the booking of Ryan Moore leads to me to Lucky Numbers. Won't find the step up in trip a problem and at a best priced 11/2 I expect a bold showing. 5.05 Interdiamonds ew @ 7/1 NAP: Surprise, surprise the day ends with yet another wide open race. Interdiamonds was a battling second to Carlton Scroop at Doncaster last time and a repeat of that run (off the same mark) would see him go close. Going to be my NAP. Elsewhere: Lingfield 2.05 Alfraamsey @7/4: Likely to be between the 2 market leaders Alfraamsey and Leiba Leiba. Hard to split the two but I'm going for the Micky Channon horse to prevail today. Made a slow start on his debut but came through strongly to finish 2nd at Bath. Looks a likely winner waiting to happen and today could well be the day. 4.20 War and Peace @4/1 : A really tight contest, but War And Peace has shaped well on both starts for David Evans and can get off the mark with Richard Hughes taking over in the saddles. Fernando Torres and Spinning Ridge are likely contenders but 4/1 looks a fair price for this very consistent horse who although still a maiden has form figures of 254422. Hoping he can break his maiden tag today. Nottingham 2.55 Copper Penny @ 9/4: Finished a close 2nd at Windsor on seasonal debut and looks sure to come on for that race. Though a case can be made for several in this race Copper Penny looks the one to beat. 4.10 Mons Calpe ew @ around 20/1 : Not an obvious selection especially making a reappearance after 319 days. However, won at this distance twice last year so a small ew bet at around 20/1 is hard to resist but certainly not one to be lumping on... unless your name is Kipper May have a few late selections but good luck all ! Chris
  21. Now there is a man heading for a fall if ever I saw one
  22. 1,217 votes in Watford, really surprised by that though the count has been such a farce it might turn out to be 217.
  23. Oh finally, the Tories gain Watford from Labour, no surprise even though Labour have held it since 1992. Biggest surprise is probably the BNP getting 1,217 votes.
