Looks a definate improvement over Lancashire. But why we switched to a back three during the Doncaster game I will never know. I didn't understand it, and by the looks on their faces i'd say the players didn't either. Clueless tactician.
-
The midfield in general was a joke. A left midfielder on the right side, a striker playing on the left. Schneiderlin is over rated and very poor, Surman is also guilty of misplacing a lot of passes. Attacking teams just go straight through us because neither stand up to them.
-
Yep. It was clear they were as confused as the rest of us. How can they have faith in Jan now?
-
£15 million? He is improving. But I think that's a bit over the top. heh
-
I always thought Euell was a striker, but then he came and played in midfield. As far as I am concerned we'd do well to put him up front, since we are paying him that much. Why not play him? Who is going to want a player who isn't even playing?

McGoldrick is a waster. I have in my head a particular chance, can't remember who against, but he was cutting in from the right with only the keeper to beat and he tried to lob it into the far post (a little like Robertsons goal for us) and it inevitably sailed over. When it surely would have been better to just slide it past the keeper... Very frustrating player.

Doncaster_ Most important game of season?
BotleySaint replied to thorpie the sinner's topic in The Saints
The must win home game against Forest turned out awful for us. The difference this time is we are going into the game on a win and we have a couple of more experienced players in the team including a couple of defenders. On paper we should beat them. Let us hope that Jan can motivate the players unlike last time. (Though didn't that match follow the team Christmas party in Ireland?) -
You are correct

It wasn't pretty. But the game could have gone either way. How good does it feel to have a win!!
-
Get in !!! Dmg!!
-
We have to get the ball down and start playing. Frustrating that we can't seem to play a ball forwards dangerously.. we can't create anything proper... despite possesson.
-
Solent just said he went to Forest Green, played 4 games and then dropped out of football. Now plays for Saints.
-
Saga hasn't done much. But then we've not created that much?
-
Defence still ****e then. I guess it's their first game together. Goal dissallowed for Barnsley.
-
Sounds like all Barnsley so far.
-
i am optimistic about tomorrow to actually. which is unusual for me. must be the crazy weather.
-
Certainly worth a go i'd say.
-
There is no decision to make. He MUST play.
-
Hurrah! He isn't young, he isn't old. He's tall and strong. Lets hope he's good enough to keep Lancashire out the team for a bit. Olly needs more development time.

I think he's right. we didn't play that badly. But people are only seeing negative in everything. People on the outside can see we actually did ok.. we didn't disgrace ourselves. We did have some nice passages of play and looked well in the game until United scored. Even then if we hadn't had Patterson sent off just as we were doing ok closing them down, forcing a few mistakes at the back, it'd have been a lot less comfortable for United. BUT 10 against 11 top players is always going to be hard to create anything decent. Yet we had chances from Smith, Surman and I even recall at one stage we had the ball played across their box. Most Premiership teams would struggle with 10 against 11 against United. I agree we've played ****e this season and Portfleet has made some bad decisions. Some of our signings have been wierd. A new manager MIGHT even help. But didn't we play 4-4-2 against United? Maybe he is beginning to see the light.
-
Depends if we sign anyone.
-
Personally i'm happy to pay £30 to see my team against one of the best in the land. Even if we did lose 3-0 I don't think we discgraced ourselves given the ****e officiating. I hope that the money squeezed from those "missing" "fans" who only came because it was United helps our financial situation a little.
-
He wasn't that bad. He was playing against Berbatov and Rooney at one stage. He doesn't have a lot of pace and does give the ball away at the wrong moment. But he could have done a lot worse!
-
10 against 11 of the best players in England and we only lost 3-0? I expect by 75-80 mins of chasing shadows most of the lads were shattered. Too tired to be chasing every ball. They had to economise. I think toward the end we looked ok.
-
Don't think we did that badly. 10 men against United was always going to be a difficult task. Davis and Perry were outstanding; especially important since we've only for 2 centre backs left. McKlaggon looked great too- fast, good control... if only the rest of the team could keep up with him/moved for him! So 3 positives at least.
