I agree - 'The Reason': We were poor in the opening 10 games. That however is a discussion for another thread.
-
Hammond was 'skimmed' from Colchester who were top (now 3rd) and Lambert signed from BR who were 4th and now 8th.
-
Similarities to Man City but also some big differences....... Man City spent money to bring the squad to a comparative standard to allow them to compete with the top 6-8 sides in the Prem. We already had a better team than most in L1 and then spent more than the other 23 combined.
-
Most L1 sides lose players to other clubs - not all (any) spend more than the whole league combined. We should be doing better this season - absolutely no excuses for next!
-
Not a good draw if we get knocked out by R'ham or Luton - good draw if we win and get a better draw in R4
-
I could lock this thread if I wanted - done it a few times before if I dont agree with the topic or if i'm losing an arguement. Sometimes I just lock threads for a laugh.

We have spent 1.5 million. 23 L1 sides combined = 910k! Amazing! Thedelldays is spot on - We are Man City of L1
-
Rotherham or Luton at home - pants
-
Just done the maths and we have outspent all 23 L1 sides combined! We have spent 1.5 million. 23 L1 sides combined = 910k! Amazing! We are Man City of L1

I am consistent! Unlike our defence!!

Hammond was not replaced neither was Jackson. Gerkin went to BC and was replaced by Carlises no.2 GK (free transfer), Yeates went to M'Boro and was replaced by Kevin Lisbie signing on loan! If we signed Lisbie on loan we would have 10 pages full of moans and groans.
-
Impossible to say what he would have done here - can only judge him on his success so far at Colchester. He took over a squad with limited quality, had no preperation time and no money to spend. 7 wins and 7 draws in 14 - you decide if he would have done better!
-
Side left by Paul Lambert is/was worse imo than the team AP inherited here.
-
No pre-season and no money spent - just seems to get on with the job and gets results. Also noteworthy that Colchester lost 17 players during the summer or just after the season started. This included the 4 best players from last season (Colchester's fan opinion not mine) Hammond (to us), Gerkin (to Bristol City), Mark Yeates (to M'Boro) and Jackson (to Notts County)

boothrooyd is an example of a manager that can get extra out of average players. Good manager

No "divine right" but we woulda, coulda, shoulda picked up more points in the 1st 10 games. Start of the season we had KD, Harding, Thomas, Saga, Rasiak, Perry, Gillet, Murty, Schneiderlin, Lallana ect and Lambert only missed the 1st 2 games. We had enough quality for L1 is my point. Now we have spend big (almost as much as all other 23 L1 sides combined) so our improved form is inevitable. Buy good players and you win more than you lose. Simples The test is/was to pick up points/wins when we only have/had a small advantage - AP has so far failed.
-
damn you and your amazing investigative skills! Fair cop - you got me! Bournemouth_saint had 3 bans and many, many, many infractions in his short time. Glasgow_Saint only has 3 infractions (for now)
-
We should win the next two games - we have far better players than both.
-
Surprised that both are still in L1. Beckford wont be for long!
-
The fact that he took over with a 'crap' squad is the reason why the opening games were a test! Managers rarely get to take over a team full of superstars and full of confidence. Its the managers job to motivate and use tactical knowledge to get the most out of the players availible. The players here were more than good enough to have done better than they did - the manager therefore failed in the opening games. Played 10 Won 1 Drew 6 Lost 3 Remember we played teams such as Brentford and Stockport NOT Man United & Chelsea. AP should have done better.

Not me Guv! Think he know posts as Windmill Arms now? Still a massive idiot too
