charlton fans were giving ap stick saying he signed lots of average players hoping that some would work out. Maybe in his break hes decided to evaluate what he has, only buying players if he knows they will be better than what we have. Chances are hes working hard every day in the best interest of the club. We have some good players. We will sign some new players as and when they are available Things will come together - end of!

if no one else is signed it would be a combination of doing very well with current squad and no more departures. i.e. rasiak & sagga. However AP has only been here 2 minutes, he will sign more players, and has said so. Dont panic with more substandard rot, that we have recruited over the past few years. There is still a month left for him to identify and buy exactly what he feels we need for 'top 2'. This, i agree, is a crazy thread

We need more new faces in most positions. Schneiderlin and Holmes both undoubtedly have talent, but need the right players about them. The balance has to be right. This is why I am glad we have a manager with experience at THIS level. Pardew will hopefully sort the wheat from the chaff. If a player cant cut it at this level then he needs to get rid. The likes of holmes being injury prone is a concern. He shouldnt be relied on as the only left mid, more as a bonus if hes fit. Lets hope Pardew can identify and secure players that can play and work at the required level and instill the desire in all of them, and I have faith that he will be able to do this given time. Someone like Oakley or bairdy would be ideal to have back

Decent appointment for this level, glad the wait is over. Hopefully ML will give him some cash, I am optimistic about the new season and hope everyone gets right behind the team

He comes across well, but you cant have him as a manager, he has a poor record, is linked to sk**s and is someone who has a very chequered personal past. Coach maybe, Manager for us no thanks, and out of all the available managers its clear he doesnt offer the best option

Let's hope for some good news tomorrow and someone to buy the club FINALLY. I do find it hard to understand why some filthy rich random swiss/germans want to buy saints who have no links to the club (am looking forward to finding out why). Bring back the good old days of owners who are linked to the area of clubs. My bet is that its not the horse riding chick, though that would be my preferred choice. Then we need a football manager style rise through the leagues and something to cheer on from here. No more false dawns PLEASE

he looks like a decent loan, and lets hope pekka is too, as a club with no money loans are vital and unfortunately loans last year were mostly sub standard. another player or two as good as guthrie was for us would be good, im so glad for a bit of optimism in the air and hope we can give all the players support this season and lets hope we can capitalise on the coming fixtures
