Charlie we have this every summer people become fixated on a player who has left and how we will never replace him and that who ever comes in won't be as good a yet here we are still doing well. Mane is a very good player but lets not try and make out he was carrying the whole team last season either. Lallana, Lovern, Clyne, Morgan, Toby even Lambert all players that people were saying we would struggle without and we survived some might say even prospered without them because football is a team game. I actually feel sorry for Redmond the bloke is going have to spend the whole season being compared to Mane because so many fans seem to think we have to replace players with exact clones.

Did you think anyone was scarred of Mane in his first season at saints? As good as Mane was when he was at his best he wasn't a very consistent player people talk like Mane was destroying teams week in and week out in the PL which he really wasn't.

Unfortunately for them they combine it with a backbone of Jelly. It will be interesting to see if there is a hangover from last seasons end of season capitulation at spurs and whether their English contingent are affected by the negativity surrounding their performances for England.

Depends if it covers the increased costs of a bigger stadium doesn't it. Of course if the club can convince the city council to fund the running costs from local tax papers we are laughing.....

Mane was consistent for the last 10 games of the season before that his form was all over the shop. His strong end to the season has helped to cover up that he was turd for much of the middle of the season. So Redmond hardly has to improve much to match four months of doing very little for the team

Are they cheap replacements? Redmond and PEH both cost about the same as Mane and Victor did for us to buy originally (around the 12 million bracket) were you expecting the club to buy replacement players for the same money we sold them for? because that hasn't happened in previous windows. Austin cost less than Pelle but had 6 months on his contract. Had Mane and Victor signed new contacts I'm pretty sure we would have bought in very little this summer other than a GK and possibly a RB upgrade for Martina especially when you consider the clubs stated aim is to bring through youth. The club clearly stated through the Echo they believe they have two quality players in every position I'm damn sure lots of fans will disagree but that doesn't change the clubs point of view.

I think you should be prepared to be ****ed off then... The club have already replaced Mane, Pelle and Vic despite what some fans keep telling themselves personally I'm cool with the replacements even if they are not direct clones of those that left.

Redmond is exactly the type of player you are describing.

You're entitled to your opinion but bloody hell if I felt like that I'd just give up on football and do something else with my weekends.

Why does it have to be like for like? there is more than one way to skin a cat. Seems fans have this idea that when a player leaves you have to replace him with a clone.

I'm sold. If we spend that much on a player I will get an inflated sense of self worth, I will be able to feel like saints are a big club, I can laugh at Everton and use words like "statement of intent". Weather he is actually any good or not is less important...

What they suddenly realised we are a PL team and immediately added 15 million to the price ....

Well if he is any sort of manager he will tweak his favoured style to fit the players he has Austin has the ability to score plenty if we play to his strengths.
