This We had a great season last time out but that seems to have deluded some of our fan base into thinking we are some sort of sleeping dragon destined to become one of the big boys of English football. Just finishing 7th ever year would be a massive ask given the clubs resources even more so this season with Europe (if we progress to the group stages) we should be aiming to finish top half and grab a cup somewhere along the line but even then a ****ty season is always a possibility.

No the club said they had no wish to sell which is not the same as "we won't sell". The club can't be held responsible for how the fans interpret things the club say. Ralph came out last summer and said neither Jrod or Morgan would be sold last summer and what do you know they weren't. They've been pretty adamant that Mane and big Vic won't be sold this summer and as yet they haven't been so why wouldn't we believe them?
-
Why do people keep harping on about last summer? We had our best ever finish after flogging five players last summer. What ever is happening this season has clearly got f uck all to do with those players who left last summer. This summer we've sold two players, and yes Morgan would always be a big miss, and actually bought in more players than we've sold. The team is hardly ripping up trees at the beginning of this season but it's got nothing to do with Lalanna, Lovern and the others leaving 12 months ago.

Wanyama Transfer Rumours - Summer 2015 Edition

Oh so you mean you know more about football players than the club? All those people at the club, with loads of experience in football, are deliberately buying players they believe are crap and not up to the job? I guess the club just randomly pick players off a list and then buy them or something? -

So you think the club has a strategy of not buying the best players the club thinks it can afford? -

We've sold two this summer and bought in something like five so what's the problem? If you want to count last summer keeping four players, who basically had threatened to strike, would have killed our teams morale and done more harm than good plus as we actually had our best finish ever I'm not sure how last summer can be used for an excuse for anything happening now. In fact if anything it proves it's not how many players you sell but who. Selling Morgan this summer will have more impact than all the players we lost last summer. -

What? so you think we should sell a player like Morgan or Clyne and buy someone better than that costs more or do you think the club can afford to hold all players to their contracts and then let them walk on frees? How many players do you think would sign for us if they thought we would force them to see out a 4-5 year contract? -

Yes but not enough for some deluded fans who seem to think she should be pouring every penny she owns into marquee signings for regular CL football (despite FFP)................ -

No because at some point the constant removal of good players will leave us with no one worth buying at which point the big boys will move on to Swansea or Stoke or something just need to drop down to a regular 16th placed team to be able to keep (most of our) players I bet Sunderland fans are ecstatic that no one wants to constantly buy all their players. -

I love the footie and I'm just another guilty enabler like most of us... but when you really think about the money in modern football it's ****ing obscene. People going to food banks to feed their kids while footballers demand a move because they need to earn another 30 grand a week......don't really make sense. -

Except our midfield is currently more open than a tarts legs. We need to keep Victor this season and then let him go next summer. -

Not disagreeing but I still think money is ruining the game. Personally I'd cap player wages world wide at £1000 a week, make all player transfers 500 quid regardless of player, tickets would be a fiver a game and I'd give the TV money to charity.... -

not much point in joining spurs then. Victor has mentioned wanting to (surprise ****ing surprise) play CL so Spurs is a pretty pointless move (more chance than us of playing CL but not much chance of being a regular CL side either) sadly for all these players in the PL who are desperate to play CL the top four teams only need so many players. You'd think if they were desperate to play CL they'd move to another country or join a team like Celtic or Ajax...... -

Well quite if we buy the good players people want bigger clubs will come after them of course we could buy sh it players and then we get to keep them. Sadly money has ruined the modern game and alcohol seems like a good substitute -

Not true if this season turns to be as bad as half the posters on here reckon we'll finish 17th and no one will want any of our players we will be like Sunderland and everyone will be very happy. -
I think you'll find it's now £100 million... Source Numerus Aeris
-
What are you the Man utd press officer?
-
He might (well probably no might about it) well do but so did Morgan. Quite frankly there is no upside to this for saints at this time of the transfer window and as he still has years left on his contract I doubt he will go any where until next summer.
-
Well that will make utd look pretty dumb they'll player 25 million for Mane but not 22 million for Pedro I can see the Meltdown on Red café already
-
I think so to. If the club's policy of selling a couple of players ever summer to fund new players is going to work they have to make sure they've got some one to sell every summer so we better keep big vic and Mane as next summers cash cows.
-
Man U wouldn't pay the 22 million release clause for Pedro so if there is a 25 million one on Mane I really can't see them being happy to pay that for a player who, while I think he is great, is not really of the same standard as Pedro

Saints willing to listen to offers for Pelle?
doddisalegend replied to BridgnorthSaint's topic in The Saints
And probably about as good as we can afford in the crazy world of Modern football. Chances of us seeing another 20+ goal a season striker at saints are pretty low baring a bit of a fluke or one of the academy boys doing a Harry Kane. -
That's the thing though every time we achieve the next mile stone it becomes even harder to push on. The best thing about league 1 was you could see goals the club could aim for that were achievable with our resources now it's pretty hard to see what else we can realistically push for....... some cup finals would be nice.
