We seem to suffer worse don't see the likes of Stoke or Sunderland having their teams regularly plundered in the summer. I guess if we keep being the best of the rest it will keep happening.

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities
doddisalegend replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
He certainly has talent the opening game of the season when he mugged Lovern off for Clyne's goal was excellent. Just seemed like the pace and grind of the PL caught up with Tadic after Christmas. -

Maybe that got fed up with him linking Morgan to them, in the press, every summer for the last 6 years...... -
I don't think anyone is doing that.

Not much the club can do about though. Can't really stop these players from going if they want to go. OK the club might put it's foot down once in a while (like Morgan last summer) but in the end unless we become a top four side this will happen every summer until all our players are **** like Sunderland.

yeah sky sources are probably some guy spending the day reading forums like this and then making an article out of it. -
Yeah but PL experience can make average players more expensive. The club is always going to look outside the PL for potential that is affordable. It might not always work but I think I like it better than buying PL has beens and journeymen.

Fair enough I guess I just hate this time of year. First Clyne to Man U was all done then it wasn't then he had signed for Liverpool only he hadn't. Morgan has been within hours of signing for Spurs, Arsenal and Man U already this season. We apparently tabled a 10 million bid for Austin and then apparently didn't. Just feels like half the journos are just making **** up and passing off as fact. No doubt buried some where among all the rumours and lies is the truth. -
Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities

And yet around Europe and the PL he doesn't seem to be in that much demand. I think he is quality but he really doesn't seem to be attracting the sort of bidding attention I thought he would. Spurs are interested if they can have him for next to nothing, Arsenal have allegedly been interested since we signed him yet have never bid for him and Man U are interested if they can't secure other targets and have yet to table a bid. I figured he would be in much higher demand around Europe to be honest. Guess the price is putting teams off. -

So has anyone actually bid for Morgan yet? Last I saw was this http://www.football365.com/news/2483/9895630/Manchester-United-have-firm-interest-in-Morgan-Schneiderlin Still no mention of united actually tabling a bid. -

How come the BBC are reporting Liverpool have made another bid ( no mention of saints excepting that I can see) yet yesterday it was supposedly a done deal? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33272451 -
Agree except they have very little chance of CL football or trophies they are dropping behind the other big teams every season the 2nd place finish was a flukey one off. Really they are a team that will finish 5-7th every season and get regular Europa they are not the big club they were.

As he is a footballer you'd like to think so.....

Pretty sure we said the same about Lallana and Lovern TBH. Didn't seem like Brenda or the pool fans where very patient or forgiving last season. -

Surely it would only be a gamble if we were flogging these players against their will? As it is every single one of them that's left (or going to leave) in the last two seasons couldn't wait to go elsewhere. It's not the club at fault here just the way modern football works. -

I have to be honest but I doubt most modern footballers could give a stuff about club history....other than a useful sound bite in those suck up to the fans interviews they do when they join a new club. It's all about money and the chance to win silverware. Liverpool will give Clyne the first and he might get lucky with the second and win the league cup so he will be happy. Meanwhile saints will get on with training up Liverpool's new signings for next season. -

Doesn't always work out like that though does it? (just ask Lambert or Chambers) When you come from a club like saints were you are the "first name on the team sheet" type of player becoming a squad player might not be all it's cracked up to be. If it was we would never have got Toby on loan last season. Having said that Clyne is more than good enough to play regularly for Liverpool. -

Just console yourself with the thought of how well Brenda has improved Saints old boys last season. A few weeks of Brenda's training and being played out of position by the football genius that is Brenda Rodgers and Clyne will be worth less than a packet of Walkers crisps.... -

I think the thing is not Liverpool being bigger than us but more that with his talent he could do better. Are Liverpool an improvement on us ...sure..... but they are not one of the PL big boys any more very much a club in decline compared to City, Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea. They are a club that might win the odd cup, will make the Europa league most of the time might even get the odd top four (once in a blue moon) I just think Clyne was good enough to play for a bigger club than that. He did an interview about wanting to play regular CL a while back does anyone think moving to pool will get him that?
