  1. I shall be at my daughters birthday party surrounded by screaming 6 years olds wishing I was at the saints game......
  2. Interesting that all the goals Kelvin let in were his fault yet all the goals Boruc and Gazza let in seem to be the defences fault. I haven't seem much from Gazza apart from his kicking to suggest he is miles better than Kelvin. I haven't seem Boruc play but solent were less than complimentry about him in the games he played. I think Nigel just needs to pick one keeper and stick with him all this chopping and changing can't be helping the back four.
  3. Blackpool fans think he is on a rolling contract LOL that's a real vote of confidence in appy's abilities
  4. What ...How could he leave the greatest fans at the greatest club in the world? What excuses will he hide behind now when things aren't going well.
  5. LOL me too I wonder how many players in the 2012 calendar are actually regulars in the team this season?
  6. Really? I think that might be a little optimistic.....
  7. On the other hand maybe Rickie could just bring a DVD of his 92 saints goals in a 165 apperances and say "what the f uck have international caps got to do with it my goals have got you two promotions in three seasons"..............
  8. A lot of new faces in the team quite a few without English as their first language I could see that having knocking effect on the team. For some of the old hands seeing a few of your old team mates getting moved on while others are reduced to hanging out on the edges of the squad could result in changes to the close knit squad the team seemed to be before.
  9. I would say so. Just pointing out that the club have set themselves in a way they believe will reduce disruption if they have to change manager.
  10. Intresting to see what Les Reed says in this interview What is your involvement at Southampton? I am a member of the Board; a Director of the club. We have a small Board and we are all executives so decisions are made quickly, it helps to get things done. Board members are responsible for Football (me) Finance and Operations and the Executive Chairman oversees it all so there are only four of us. I am responsible for what we call the Football Development and Support Centre. It is a concept rather than a facility. FDSC incorporates Coaching, Sports Medicine and Science, scouting and recruitment, kit and equipment and the Academy. I work closely with the Manager and the Chairman on football matters and manage a staff of about 50 in those 5 departments or pillars. The Manager is able to focus on coaching the team and only the three first team coaches report directly to him. This brings the stability I mentioned earlier because very few staff are affected by a managerial change, the culture remains the same and the strategy stays on course. This was the vision of the Chairman and it is working. It is the hardest job I have done yet but I really enjoy it. Being a manager would be a piece of cake after this! We have a great staff and everyone is pulling together as one. Taken from this Link http://www.2ndyellow.com/2012/five-minutes-of-your-time-please-les-reed/ So it seems the club is set up so that changing manager has minimal effect on continuity.....
  11. I remember the Northam Singing there is only one Alan Pardew just after he was sacked ...I think we were being shafted by Rochdale at the time
  12. Do you hold the same view on players? We've let go plenty of players that played their part in back to back promotions who were then shown the door without any chance to even have ago at the PL maybe they would have come good? In fact Nigel has dropped several players he didn't think were good enough should he have shown some loyalty to those players that helped get back to back promotions. How about Kelvin he had a rough patch at the start of this season ....should we have stuck with him rather than putting him on the bench? Nobody seems to have a problem upgrading players considered not good enough for the PL......
  13. Wolves hardly picked someone worse they were stuck with him becuase they hadn't got a replacement lined up first. It would be like us sacking Nigel and having to have Wilkins or Hunter in charge for the rest of the season..........
  14. I bet Di Canio used to beat him up for his lunch money....
  15. Maybe the board don't want to end up like Wolves last season were no one wanted the job and they became even worse than they had been under big Mick........
  16. I See Charlie Austin has scored 20 goals already this season http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20237543 Would he cut it in the PL? ...is he better than J-Rod? Should we have bid for Austin instead? Always thought he was a bit of a c unt...but that might just be becuse he always seems to score against us:)
  17. Lets hope Nigel can turn it around then with a few "easier" games coming up. No manager in the PL or football league is going to keep his job for long with our current form. I wonder if they have given Nigel a deadline by which time he has to turn it around by? I also wonder if the board are buying time to find a replacement rather than have a repeat of the Wilikins fiasco when Pardew was sacked.
  18. Footballing wise yes....... sadly they don't seem to have Hammonds Leadership (or balls) something were missing at the moment.
  19. One of the reasons I think Kelvin is still getting on the bench on match days (but not in goal)
  20. What about loyalty to Sharp, Hammond, Kelvin, Barney, Harding and the other players who helped get us promoted if players aren't considered "up to it" people are only to happy to get rid so what makes the Manager different? I like Nigel happy for him to be given a good shot at the PL but people seem very contrary with this loyalty bussiness....
  21. I think we need on pitch leadership. One of the big things the team has had over the last few seasons was spirit and fight......that is totally gone this seasons it seems. We need the right mix of quaility footballers and leaders/guts (of course players who are both would be ideal but probably rather rare). We've shipped out commited players like Hammond and replaced them with better footballers at the cost of leadership/guts and fight. There is no leaders on the pitch now no one to drag the other players up with a committed display. IMO of course.
  22. Fair play....
  23. Will you be calling NC a simpleton if he decided to get rid?
  24. It's like a different team from last season....confidence plays a part but maybe when we shipped out some of the less gifted footballers we also shipped out the guts and hardwork side of the team?
