Saints spent 35m, 20m of it on two players, this season, the last game saw them lose to Man Utd at Old Trafford even with 21 shots on goal. Yet people complain!

Fergie says "Southampton are best team to play here all season"
doddisalegend replied to Forester's topic in The Saints
While it's all very nice for fergie to say that (and his team won so he can afford to be magnanimous) would people rather not be labeled the "worst team to play at OT this season " but walk away with three points? A good performance by the team always helps to soften a loss but football is a numbers game and we need points..... -
Good first half and **** poor second half. Should have one it is the first half really. New manager not off to a good start as he allowed SDR to actually get on the pitch:?
-
See the players are playing for their place in the team...NC might have just hit on something here new manager every two weeks and the players will try harder..........
-
This^^^^ All those annoyed with the media going to SISA why don't you start your own group so that the media can have a proper representation of saints fans? The media want to talk to a fans group if SISA are the only ones in the phone book that's were the media will go............
-
Yes well the game used to be do a bad job excpect the sack....it seems in the last few years the game has changed so that even doing a good job doesn't protect a manager from chairmen/owners living in fantasy worlds..........
-
Well as the new guy hasn't even managed one game yet...... who knows? We might have gone down with Nigel in charge there is no way of knowing. The new manager is going to have to deliver quickly though or the atmosphere is going to get pretty toxic at SMS if he doesn't.
-
To be honest I've got no problem with the new bloke under other circumstances I'd read that article and be quite upbeat about the new manager............. it's just that I'm sad Nigel had to go like this I feel he deserved better....
-
Beeb article suggests it wasn't that black and white http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21084201
-
Sadly I think that is the exactly the case....
-
I don't think either of them meet NC expectations hence getting the heave ho
-
Yes but I wish it wasn't (or at least not the PL version of it anyway)
-
On the other hand what if we are 8th in the championship next season?
-
Fonte's misses has alot to answer for:p
-
I can't help feeling not being in PL had a lot to do with that
-
This does not paint a nice picture of how Nigel has been treated, weather he was the right man to take the club forward is open to debate, but after all he has done he deserved better treatment than this article implies Even Adkins was caught cold. As the news began to leak out of St Mary's on Friday morning, it became clear the man who led the club from the lower reaches of League One to the Premier League in less than two years had not been told. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21084754

Blackpool fans getting excited.....and Nigel is used to working with looney chairman........a good match
-
Though he played football for................ England (though not as much as he should)
-
Get home from work to find this.....Can't understand it at all. I thought Nigel was in danger early on this season, I never doubted NC would pull the trigger if he wanted to, but he seemed to be turnning things around and I figured NC wanted him to stay. Surely if NC wanted to upgrade to a CL manager (and the jury is firmly out on weather that is the case) next summer would be the time to do it not mid season considering our postion the new guy is really going to have to hit the ground running........ Lets face it though football fans being what they are, despite the out pourings of grief right now, if the new guy wins he first few games most fans will be "Nigel who?" Real out pouring of scorn on the bbc about this though lots of people saying they hope we are relegated after sacking Nigel.

Wasn't there a poster on here who thought Lambert who score more goals than Torres in league 1 got the **** roundly taken out of them ...two years on seems Lambert might score more goals than Torres in the PL:lol:
-
Nice to see after tonights goal Lambert will now be up to joint 5th in the PL top scorers table (with 10 goals) ahead of quite a few well established PL big names. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers not bad for a player costing 1 million. I wonder if he can make the magic twenty goals before the end of the season?
-
Well as SRL has scored 8 already this season which is more than Tevez, Rooney and Aguero and the same as Walcott and Dzeko I think I'm happy for him to be in the starting 11 every time no one else in our team is going to score more goals than Rickie IMO.
-
Well we seem to be occupying somewhere around our usual PL postion and the big teams are still generally near the top so I'm guessing things haven't changed much. PL teams will still win both the domestic cups and Man U will no doubt win the title all in all same old same old.
-
The PL happened................ this is the new face of top flight football might as well get used to it........
