I think he has to go on loan in the Championship. But, he may yet get his chance here as we failed to buy a striker this January. If we miss a Champions League spot the reason will be a failure to have brought in a quality striker. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/02/06/why-this-southampton-stars-recent-form-has-become-a-major-concer/?

I don't rate Gallagher......yet. Worse than Mayuka and I can't think of a Premier League striker in any team I wouldnt have instead of him. But, I wish him luck and hope he develops into an outstanding striker.

Yep. Queens Park Raisons are going down, Pelle will destroy them.
-
Knee operation.... sounds like a WGS excuse.
-
I agree. Ryan is a Saint. Fact.
-
Verdict? Need a good striker. One attacking midfielder in. One loanee signed. One steady midfielder (Cork) out. Champions League? Not this year. Maybe next.

Welcome to the Saints! -
Next year? Hopefully.
-
Champions League. Can we do it? January transfer window.... No.
-
Wow! A striker! Cool... lets give him a chance.... eh Fonte?
-
No one leaving according to Sky. Good news. Just one in by the looks of it. Good signing possibly. No striker. If so, I'm not sure we've shown enough ambition to stay in the top 4. Still early though....!
-
We're getting Classie instead.
-
Over the last few games I've counted the amount of balls Pelle received and then lost immediately due to a poor first touch. Its around 70%. He chests it down accurately though! Don't get me wrong. I think he is a super player overall. Just feel that we need another striker to take the pressure off him a little.
-
No way. Even with a poor manager your strikers should hit more goals at this level than they have been... one of the worst teams in Europe.
-
Agree with all of that.
-
I wonder if Koeman will call them Queensh Park Raisons as well?
-
Can't believe Liverpool will make a profit on him. Gutted. Bet we didn't put in a sell on clause! Good luck to him. Villa are desperate and it might just be the buy of the season and keep them up. Wish he was coming home though.
-
Agree - and unlike Pelle he can hold a ball up. (Although he is pretty damned good in lots of other ways!) Please sign him back!

True.... But the regulars are always there. It was pretty cold. But even so, I think the Northam and Itchen North were mediocre today. We can do better.
-
Looked a booking to me. Not a red card. But not seen it on TV yet. Thought the referee and Itchen side linesman were very poor today.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-1 Swansea

Thought we were unlucky today. Good 1st half performance. But - WE NEED A STRIKER. Said it since September. We need to invest in one great player NOW. A striker! We seem to be buying one or two more midfielders before tomorrow's deadline(if we are lucky) WTFIGO? -

I'm underwhelmed by this. Another loanee (I'd rather Lambert back if it were possible). He might turn out well. He might be all that's on offer. But for me, we may never have a better chance to hit the Champions League. And it appears that our Boardroom are not investing. Sometimes you need to take a chance to kick on. We have one striker. Mayuka is not good enough. Jay Rod is broken. Longy is a utility forward, not an out and out striker. Pelle will get injured. Perhaps there is no one. But, Ings, Lambert on loan would not go amiss right now. This chap is unproven, unwanted by his current club and has just as much chance as being another Mayuka. Our time is now. Invest. Spend the money. Time to take a gamble.... If not get Fonte to shake Osvaldos hand and give him a go under Koeman.... it's worked for bad boy Elia! -
Right now would you cash in on him for £20m from Spurs and take Rickie Lambert on loan from Liverpool? I would.
-
Bye Jack. Thanks. Bring on the exciting replacement!
