What's wrong with Gareth Rodgers exactly?
-
No, just trying out being all optimistic and completely ignoring the situation at hand.
-
If you're truly a member of the board, I hope you don't space your writing like that whilst doing business on behalf of Saints FC.
-
Nah, Harrison Reed will come in and will be better IMO
-
Good for you Grandad. Obviously hope it all plays out ok. Massive job.
-
I think it's more a reference to the fact that it's been known for a while that the club would sell players. April according to Lovren and Vman had said that 3 major players would go around that time. I'm not too sure that the club have been trying all that hard to keep hold of players, I think they would rather the cash over the them in all reality. Their prerogative of course but they will have to step up massively over this summer.
-
Come on, we didn't manage to sign a massive bunch of ****s at all. Lovren a side, I'm sure the others will have lifelong affinity with Saints, they have all been here long enough.
-
Some might not be overly happy, but you don't sell all your best players in a window unless you're broke or relegated. No one else does it because it's madness.
-
Regardless, Lovren will be sold no matter what valuation we put on his head.
-
People really believe we would be left in a scenario where we would have up to all 5 players all on strike, making PL history in process
-
Just like we wanted 30M for Adam and 40M for Luke, in the end, both went for less. Lovren will go and it won't be for 25M.
-
Because they have told Liverpool that they want 25M
-
You'd hope so, Adam missed a large chunk of the season through injury and struggled thereafter. We need him to be as effective as Adam was last season.
-
Probably something along the lines of having great players at the club, a great academy and we will be looking to incrementally improve with very good signings when we have the opportunity in order to have a crack at Europe. How crazy and unrealistic.
-
Just like when you say people are hysterically wetting the bed when quite clearly they won't be. Not like you to be a hypocrite is it Jeff?
-
I'm wondering the same thing, the only explanation is that the board kind of want all the money. Or maybe they just didn't want to look bad in front of all the other players who wouldn't come to Saints if we were to deny anyone a transfer exactly when they want it.
-
It could end up as a hostage situation, anything could happen.
-
I prefer "no means no" but i'll come back to you with a written plan on how to stop players from threatening to strike , loads of clubs manage it so shouldn't be too hard.
-
The contracts are obscene in the context of it being compared to a hostage situation, is that the perspective you speak of? Kind of a ****ed up strategy to sell your best players just in case you put off their replacements joining
-
When you say "we" do you mean me? I haven't spoken of any vision but of the pragmatism of selling your best players in a summer and the detriment it would have. Laughable to be talking about hostage situations when we're actually talking about players potentially having to work another year of recently signed contracts for which they are already obscenely paid. And as for making us look bad.....
-
You're only talking about worst case scenario's, plenty of players have got their heads down and played even if they fancy a move away. They are professionals in the most part. How often do players go on strike anyway? Those that do are of a certain type.
-
Just say no to some, yes. Nothing unreasonable about that, no one sells their best players in this way for footballing reasons. What could the players do in all reality? Go on some mass player strike, making themselves look like massive ****s in the process?
-
Just don't agree to sell them all? If they really felt they might have to stay, there is no way that some of them would be acting as some reports suggest. They know they will be allowed to leave but just want it done quick so they can go on holiday and not have to report back to Saints. I doubt any of them would actually risk going on strike in all reality. I think the club are not opposed to selling at all and the players know that.
-
You think they would have all gone on strike?
-
Don't sell all your top players in one hit?
