Let's not forget that Billy's ambition is probably to play games in the prem. That usually starts and ends in pre season so he can go on his championship national tour. Could buck that trend this summer so Billy might be fine. It's our woeful treatment of Lovren which is really ****ing me off at the moment. We're messing with all his ambition, making him train with Jos all over again.

Because if he signs a five year deal now he is less likely to get a move to one of the big clubs who are clearly interested. Ultimately, he could not sign and have a pick of a number of clubs who would be in for him in Jan or next summer, safe in the knowledge that Saints won't be able to drive a ludicrous price which could prevent a move.

He will know his progress and he appears to be working hard. He's the fittest member of the squad so a good recovery is likely. I think he is in a great position to look at his options in Jan/next summer and not have Saints having scope to negotiate huge fee's
