  1. It's not really much of a theory, I just think the board have been quite receptive to selling our most valuable players and quite like the cash.
  2. I was saying that we don't have a specific obligation to sell players under contract to saints. Several people on here reckon that we simply have to sell and that there is nothing we can do, we're just part of an unlucky set of circumstances which is ****** in my view. The other view is that it's all Cortese's fault after leaving the new board with such a difficult situation to inherit. Clearly nonesense as we were in a great spot, on and off the pitch.
  3. The merits of selling our best players directly impacts Schneiderlin. If there is specific update, someone will post it.
  4. If they had recieved bids for multiple key first team players, Everton (like us), would be under no obligation to sell them all.
  5. Staggered over about 10 years, not one window.
  6. They simply wouldn't have, players going on strike isn't all that common, let alone for any one club to have several players all at it at once.
  7. They simply wouldn't all go on strike Dibden, don't be ridiculous.
  8. Spurs managed to keep Bale for an extra season and sold him on the last day of the next window for a World record fee. Liverpool are not also going to sell Gerrard, Sterling, Henderson & Sturridge. As for throwing in David Luis as a comparison... Add to the fact that those clubs will also be able to truley reinvest in World Class players, it's a completely pointless comparison
  9. How would all of them have been able to leave if we didn't except any bids?
  10. You're right, better get Cork and Fonte sorted and those entering their last two years.
  11. Getting three players in the England squad for a World Cup and have none of them come back as a Saints player is pretty embarrassing. Couldn't wait to get them out of the door.
  12. When it comes to losing all your very best players to the big clubs in one go, I think you can glean something from that can't you? It's not that people don't understand that players will want to move on a some point, you just don't allow it to be done all at once and to the deteriment of momentum which is hard to come by. Strong leadership just wouldn't allow it to happen. If you end up selling everyone because you won't be able to keep players performing or working to their contracts until the time is right, as a leader, you've ****ed up.
  13. Yea, they have it copied ready to paste. they just keep adding one more player to the list.
  14. It doesn't concern you in the slightest that we have changed the coaching set up and have sold and will sell our best players? Not many clubs are able to absorb just change in such a short period, we are not one of them. We need to manage the change really well in order to make sure the impact isn't too severe. Appointing Koeman was very good but more in the context of him being one of the best realistcally available managers around. He is still unproven and this is the biggest step up in his managerial career in terms of competition. None of this is just being nagative for the sake of it, i've not said anything particular controversial but it's the type of post which bizarrely gets a lot of stick at the moment.
  15. No but the people who I was replying to on this thread were before your inevitable snipe. Whoopsie.
  16. No more embarrassing than pretending this is all the fault of the lies of that nasty man who left 6 months ago.
  17. And we will happily oblige. It's not just those wanted by really top sides who are unsettled
  18. When Kat stepped in to make sure we sold players for a massive profit? I'd probably do one as well. All this talk of Cortese duping all the players is embarrassing. The players knew they were good and knew we had a very good manager. I'm sure they were confident in their own abilities and not reliant on empty words from the chairman.
  19. I don't know, the general point is he was openly setting expectations that we wouldn't be doing a City or Chelsea so I'm asking what the false promises where?
  20. Ok, clearly just completely made up. No one is interested in Rodriguez.
  21. What were the false promises? The last interview I remember, Cortese acknowledged that Southampton couldn't spend their way to the next level and had to gain advantages wherever we can.
  22. Maybe it's because people are genuinely interested in signing him?
  23. Combination of NC leaving and subsequent actions of the board?
  24. They could also continue to talk about Europe and the Champions League but somehow manage it with worse players. I think I'm getting the hang of this situation reading like them smart folks which writes stuff on ere
