But really we should have made this sort of signing when we got relegated to the championship, a proven striker who could hit 20+ goals at that level. We didn't, we let our strikers go - that's why we finished 12. Completely different mentality now - the top goalscorer in league 1 signed...if you sign the best you'll become the best. I think we need to be patient with him though, he may not hit off straight away - but if you want a chance to fall to a player, he's the 1 player in league 1 you'd want it to fall too.

Weird isn't it? This is a HUGE statement of intent, there possibly isn't a bigger one we could have made at this stage. You get relegated to league 1....what do you do? Spend £1m on last seasons joint top scorer (in all the English leagues). I'd have been bloody chuffed if we'd signed him as a champonship club. IMO it's a bargain for what he will bring to us.

i think it's different with evening games though? They have to sign before 12pm for 3pm/lunch time kicks offs - but i think we have a bit more leeway in evening games.

He will be an awesome player. He's got so much natural ability and has the perfect coach to nurture that - he'll play a big role for arsenal this season and then will be in the world cup squad IMO.
