  1. Always seemed to me that encouraging a GK to play with the ball at his feet is an invitation to a clusterfuck (Gunn v Huddersfield was another one, McCarthy v Arsenal, and FF's 'air kick' at Palace, away from us even Allison for Liverpool this season). But in the Pep inspired era it seems something most managers are now committed to.
  2. If we're the only team at the Euros persisting with this routine it will be interpreted across Europe that we're merely copying America. No matter how well intentioned it may be, is this a message we want to send ?
  3. Fair enough. Looks pretty impressive from that and fairly intimidating ! Surprised that the article you link suggests €15m . Whether we could scape that with other areas to be addressed is another matter of course.
  4. You're probably right but unfortunately if we've already publicly stated we're not looking for a DM in Delaney (who was rumoured at £6-8m) can't see us goining for Gruijic. Have seen the name on here before but don't really know anything else about him. If we are looking at a GK though it's a position I'd like to se us going for a more experienced one though rather than following the "one for the future" route.
  5. Perraud has been linked with us before, and previously I'd read good things about him but that link does highlight a few weaknesses as well. Surprised we're linked with him if Leeds feel he's overpriced as reported.
  6. Or use it as a chance to offload Ely.

    2021/22 Kit

Think the Brentford kit is smarter due to the collar, and the fact it is r/w striped back rather than plain it's certainly an upgrade on ours. Will need to see ours in person, but am hoping the chevrons in the white don't give an impression of 'grey' tinge to our shirts. Agree with others who have commented that the white sleeves from our promotion year might have been better.
  8. Wolves fan up there has said that a number of rumblings that Nuno was unhappy with the club, and that the 'preferred leak and gossip' was that he was a bit homesick, and lockdown prevented him seeing his family. The other comment doing the rounds was that he was pissed off with the direction of the club, and speculated that the Chinese owners were losing interest. Sound familiar ? Nuno is a difficult one to call though, did a great job at Wolves but that was largely on the back of Wolves agent connection enabling signing of Portuguese players. Could be a different story faced with a mediocre squad at somewhere like Palace, or even without access to what might be his preferred player market
  9. Agreed, more I read about him following the link the more it seemed a good option if we could swing it. Unfortunately we're now distanced from the potential move.
  10. By all means bang your drum, but it goes without saying the standard of defending, and goalkeeping in the clips is pretty dire. Look at the first goal, a GK error he'd only be gifted with playing against us not for us, creating an opportunity that even Shane Long might have hit the post from. As for the celebration, looks impressive but knowing our luck he'd do it once in front of the Northam, land on his head and break his neck.
  11. In his own mind and that of his agent he'll expect to oust Cresswell, and the lure of London, European football, and the additional £££ available will probably sway it. Anyway this is unlikely to be settled quickly despite the press reports. Junior's been told to "take his time young man, as mama used to say". * *1980's thing for the younger readers.

    Danny Ings

But can he deputise at right back if required ? If not he fails the acid test.
  13. Agree. Only Youtube clips seen but looks a better option than Che Adams did at the same stage from the clips of him. So probably won't happen as we probably consider there are more prssing gaps to fill, unless we know there is a strikers void to fill.
  14. This line has probably been trotted out for as long as I remember, certainly since 1970. After we failed to qualify in 1974 and 78 ... many would say "if only they appointed Cloughie..." and same for much of the 1980's. In truth, no; players aren't good enough and our organisation of them isn't as good as our rivals. And let's not forget when we unleashed teenage protege Wayne Rooney on to the world stage.... only a matter of time before we win it.... Remind me again how many goals he scored in World Cup Final Tournaments. Doubt it. This is JWP we're talking of not Roy Keane.
  15. Although I've regarded myself as one of Ralph's supporters over the last few months I've also wondered about his success at RB Leipzig and how much can be read into that as he had Ralf Rangnick as a DoF to perhaps guide and assist. How much influence RR would have had on day to day matters, tactics and selections we'll never know but it could have offered a better back up than those we have.
  16. From what I saw last night it seemed that Sterling was a "billionaire's version" of Redmond, threatened the opposition on reputation alone and seemed to run into blind alleys before delivering.
  17. Was hoping we'd look at Ajer as our Celtic recruit this year.

    2021/22 Kit

Stripes front and back as well. It can be done. Why do the dickheads in our purchasing dept accept otherwise ?
  19. But others can offer a more "scenic" route involving European football, and even the possibility of pushing the club on from where we are if you're midtable already. It must be a harder sell if you're perceived as perennial strugglers just managing to avoid the drop. Are they still though ? This was the publicity c 2014 but since then I thought many clubs had developed facilities . may be not as someone else mentioined Burnley and Palace, but a few years ago I thought we had started to measure ourselves in higher circles. Mind you, part of our problem may have begun when we started believing our own publicity. unless ..... [complete the sentence...]
  20. I think it'll be a good move for him, and he'll be rejuvenated leaving many bemoaning the fact he was "let go" despite the fact he'd gone 'stale' with us.
  21. If it does happen can I claim an ITK point ? Possibly the first one of summer.
  22. If ACJ wants to milk prime real estate why not try doing it from existing corporate facilities that regularly are empty ? [corporate boxes] rather than looking for 'not so prime real estate' or 'real estate lite' from other seated areas that where the take up had been reasonably good up to now. your analogy with the film plot and oil well is good one, but perhaps they're not looking in the right place for it, or taking into account the area, the 'well has run dry' unless he thinks we can spead our appeal to the Surrey based commuters who will prefer a drive here than to London to watch a match (occasionally, probably not every home fixture). Still what do I know about attending matches ? only been a supporter sorry, customer for just over 50 years.
  23. Comment on the BBC article: Levy speaking to the manager before contacting his club. Can anyone believe it of him ?

    2021/22 Kit

When would we get to wear that as a second or third shirt ? Genius from the marketing dept: Home kit: red and white stripes Away kit : white and red stripes.
  25. This stands out for me as something regularly overlooked. We've been overtaken by many of these we saw ourselves ahead of as recently as Koeman's time with the club (Leicester, West Ham and Wolves for example). In terms of overseas players there also seems an arrogance that just being in the EPL will be enough. Whilst it may be a better payer than most leagues people tend to disregard the fact that the Bundesliga is a strong league and to many this and Serie A are equally attractive leagues to play in. How often are we left (rumoured) to be looking at players proven in those leagues, by which time they're out of our price range ?
