  1. Some interesting comments in your post but just to respond on this point. I'm inclined to agree although it also be seen as refreshing that we get an honest response rather than trotting out a bland textbook response about "behind closed doors" etc. Brian Clough once made his goalkeeper and a defender stand next to him like disgraced schoolboys when he gave a post match interview after they'd made a balls up in a high profile match. The GK was Peter Shilton, and no one questioned Cloughies man management at the time. (Think it was the League Cup final in 1980).
  2. Perhaps they feared the prospect of Lewis having to come on.
  3. Heaton would be an excellent signing if possible.
  4. Never tire of seeing this, any excuse to post it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9SXa55s2OM One of the most memorable moments and games in my time following Saints. Enjoy the nostalgia, great football at the time, one of our best ever kit designs, European Footballer of the year having signed for us in 1980.

    Harry Lewis

First thing Monday then, the training ground tactic should be for someone to nobble Lewis.

Where's a Kasey Keller when you need one?
  7. Just seen the BBC highlights looks as if they had numerous chances to win it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59479806

Bob Ratcliffe previously gave an interview where he said they weren't interested in an English PL club as it would mean pumping in £50m every year to finish 10th (or win the "Everton Trophy" as he called it).

Didn't stop Leipzig and RB Salzburg playing against each other in the CL this or last season. What's the difference with the West Ham- Sparta Prague ?

Think I'd be able to cope with it if we become as successful as Leipzig in their league. Can't see the 'ralph connection' being instrumental in it it though. Don't forget he left after they didn't offer a contract extension. The only 'link' with Red Bull that I recall a couple of years ago was a comment that one of our analysts who left for one of their clubs said she expected to working with SFC again shortly. Could we be so lucky ? Can't see it, but of the names previously mentioned Red Bull (without the name change) or Ratcliffe/Ineos would be preferable to a some dodgy group or individual.
  14. Because we can't. Don't recall a time whilst I've been watching Saints (since the 1960's) that we've mastered the art of constantly just nullifying the opposition.
  15. Did think about this possibility and I suppose if they can't entice Poch to go there they'll widen their search. But not sure how the working relationship between Ralf and Ralph really ended with our Ralph leaving Leipzig when Ralf was still DoF there.
  16. At least no Mike Dean.
  17. Worrying what might happen with a McCarthy or Forster in goal then.
  18. See Smith has restored Cantwell and Gilmour. Hope they don’t recover form and fitness too soon. They and Rashica could be pretty creative.
  19. Osman had a bit of a reputation at one point, and think he was linked with Suzanne Dando at some stage. Whether that was before or after Charlie Nicholas and her were together can't recall. Linking the themes of player's 'activities' and locations, Osgood was rumoured to be knobbing an Air Hostess from Otterbourne, and was seen in some of the pubs there at one stage ,White Horse I think was mentioned.
  20. And Frank Worthington - as seen in the pub The Otter.
  21. I remember hearing that John McGrath lived in Chandlers Ford in the 1970's. As did Lawrie when he first arrived at the club until late 70's/early 80's when he moved to Braishfield.
  22. Closer to Scribes for a post training cocktail and lap dancing session to unwind with.
  23. Shame Scott Marshall didn't develop this trait, might have been our top scorer at the end of October one year if he had.
  24. I had forgotten that Marsden was at Stockport. I recall him at Wolves; although he only played eight games for them ( relative up there rated him but said he was shown the door due to an incident off the pitch). Armstrong was linked for a while, but it didn't happen and he never really reached the levels expected. Have to say that Stockport are one of those clubs I still harbour a minor dislike of, and was happy to see drop out of the league. Bit like Tranmere, and Wrexham (1974) really. Of the Stockport signing, Jones was better than his reputation (although carried an error from time to time), and still think he was an unnecessary one with Maik Taylor here. Lee Todd .... no further comment other than up there with some of Branfoot's signings (David Lee for example).
