Piss poor performance, and despite Ralph's comments we just didn't seem motivated or organised from the start. Tella was an inivisible man for much of the game. At one point one of our delicate little flowers was 'outmuscled' off the ball by NIvea. Says it all.

I can see that happening actually, despite all the hype about Howe he won't be considered for the sort of job he was originally touted for so will be looking for something else, probably locally. Personally, I'd prefer to stick with Ralph, but lets face it without investment we're stuffed whoever is in charge.

‘Sideways’ Magilton and Glenn(da) Cockerill used to take a fair deal of flak at one time. Going back Lew Chatterley was a bit of a skapegoat in the 70’s especially after relegation when he’d just joined from Lawrie’s old club. Hugh Fisher about the same time, although redeemed himself with his part in our cup run.

In terms of cone stackers no one comes close to Dennis T-Shirt though

I remember seeing Skates fans referring to this fixture as Scummers v Bummers.

Frank Worthington was a bit of a nemesis in the 1970’s. On joining us though in 1983 he went on a bit of a goal drought. Thought it a shame Lawrie didn’t sign him earlier though.

Looked "good enough" for a while after he joined Everton.

When was the last time they lost two league games at home in a row ? Actually I'll accept a draw on Wednesday, we can save beating them until the Cup Final. Lets not be greedy.

Even WBA under Allardyce are able to grind out a result, even with 10 men for much of the game at Burnley the other week.

Is there any likelihood that KWP will be fit for this ? Any news on Diallo ?

Think it probably helps West Brom rather than us

This is obviously the ‘what did the Romans ever do for us?’ post of the night.

What about if they brought Adkins back as a stand in to the end of the season, would that please you?
-
What's the betting he looks thoroughly rejuvenated on signing for Leicester next season ?
-
True but sadly not going to happen between now and the end of the season is it ?
-
Shame Ralph can't bring in coaches of his choice, rather than being saddled with Watson & Co. It doesn't seem a dynamic backroom.
-
Is that 'Relegated Eddie' from Bournemouth ? With one relegation on his CV he probably doesn't want to take a job fighting another.

To be replaced by who ? Unless there is some £ available in the summer, and that seems unlikely, no new manager will be able to put his stamp on the club. Up shit creek whilst Mr Gao remains here. Other than a short term fix and boost perhaps (and we could do with one that's for sure), a new manager solves nothing.
-
Not really that new to us though is it ? Seem to remember this happening under previous managers. Didn't we go from 0-2 at HT to 3-2 away at Hull a few seasons ago, possibly under Koeman. That said it is now the norm for us to have a good first half, not make it count, then collapse in the second appearing cluless in the process.

Agree. Poor squad, little investment, compounded by injuries. Why people start bandying names like the Brentford manager about is ridiculous, they are ambitious, seem well run and could be promoted. Why leave that for Gao, and the penniless Saints.

That's the first 8o seconds sorted, but then what ?

My first couple of seasons following them I remember: GK - Gurr/Martin FB: Kirkup and Hollywood (never particularly impressed with either),c1972/3 Steve Mills CB: John McGrath, Jimmy Gabriel (did a good cameo up front a couple of times), David Walker (Jim Steele from 1973 I think) MF: Fisher, O'Neill, Wing: Paine, Sydenham, then Jenkins Forwards: Channon, Ron, occasional run outs for Frank Saul, Micky Judd Channon was breaking through when I started watching (69/70) by the end of the season he was a regular. Of the GK - Gurr was meant to have great potential, Martin was the perfect'alehouse' keeper, always coming off his line to catch a high ball whilst showing the oncoming striker his studs. Don't remember Kindon, but I do remember the header with Alun Evans that lead to Shankley's famous 'alehouse' comment. Also remember various players having a toe to toe with Mike Summerbee. Probably some I've forgotten.
