Back to WWII. I've just been reading in 'Southampton's Children of the Blitz' that a bomber crashed after being shot down on the junction of Padwell/Oxford Road (coincidentally right outside one of my old shared houses). Apparently this is the ONLY German bomber that is know to have crashed in the Town's limits. So, that bomber in Sholing has either a) been put there b) was never recorded or c) was outside the old town's limits?

I most probably will be yes. Not going to be in colours though as I plan to go out in London on the way back.

I'm on the same train as you. I've taken a look at the brewery tap and it looks like a **** bistro. So I'm going to the Cherry Tree or the one next to it....

From Woolston, and yes stand in the Northam (and called Steve!! ) I grew up in Woolston, the Spitfire Quay sign that you could see from Peartree Green started my interest in the city and now I have a cash of all sorts of references. It's always interesting hearing from people that have lived around here. Sadly I'm moving away in October, so I'm getting a bit nostalgic and whilst I'm here I'm trrying to tie up some loose ends in reference to my knowledge of the place (particularly WWII) before the people that can tell us are gone.

I've got about 6 or 7 of those. The children of the blitz is probably the best in my opinion, however others are good for geographical references.
