  1. Er, yes quite possibly
  2. Last season a club needed 76 points to make the League 1 playoffs. If this season pans out in the same way you're going to need 86. Can't see it somehow. You've got too much to do on the rebuilding front this year. You'd be better off consolidating this season, and having a real good crack at it next year without the minus 10 hanging around your necks......
  3. Hmmm, an interesting analogy with one fatal flaw- because the boat is stripped out and burnt it allows them to not only survive by getting across to the other side, but also it allows Fogg to get to the reform club in time to win the bet! Alternatively, they could have just stuck their heads in the sand, run out of fuel and drifted before being consumed by the first nasty storm that came their way. Sooooo, using your analogy, you can either sit tight and hope to drift into calmer waters where you might eventually be spotted and saved, OR you sell a large chunk of your assets off, survive and continue under your own steam. This picture you paint gives me considerable hope for PFC's future. Thankyou!
  4. Yep, quite a few valid points there apart from Pompey's debt, which is now down to 27m- not much by Premiership standards. There's a whisper on the Pompey news site this morning saying that the club will be debt free after August 24th. Apparently the first instalment of the Sky money is paid the day before and it's going straight to Standard bank of South Africa as the last repayment of the loan Sascha took out initially. Now, whether that means that from then on we're 'completely debt free' is a moot point. I think it will bring it down to the last 20m that Gaydamak is owed personally. Either way, very good progress on what was a crippling debt.....
  5. IF, as has been alleged, you've lied about the attendance you're in the poo on three counts- if you're only going to pay the VAT on 11k when there were 16k there, it's fraud. Secondly the insurance company that provides your public liability insurance will be very interested to know that you've allegedly only had enough stewards in for an attendance of 11k, not 16. Thirdly, the HSE & the police will want to know why you've not provided enough stewarding for a public event on safety and public order grounds. Ooops........

    Lambert

As this is a Lambert thread I'll keep it brief- I just don't know anymore! I'm ex-RNR by the way

Nope, sorry I'm not. No really, I'm really, really not. HONESTLY! BBC FOUR is an oasis of quality in a desert of pap....

Hmmm, don't think so  Actually some of us at this end of the M27 have even been known to watch BBC FOUR for a whole hour, or even more- if the remote's battery has run out...
  9. No hadn't seen it. Just had a look now. Lambert looks pretty good to be fair- the Luton goal was a bit special. Dunno if he'd be any good at a higher level as he has a lot of space and time in nearly all those goals, but hey, who cares I suppose if he gets you up? Fred looks pretty erm, cheap? Two goals against Rangers reserves/youth isn't a good guide of Premiership ability, but it's a start. Can only hope I suppose. Don't really have much choice ??:

LOL Nah, wouldn't get hooked for sure. It would feel very alien, but interesting all the same to watch a different team for a change. Trouble is for most of us, your first club is for life innit?
  11. Yep, agree with all of that. Distin in a good team plays very well, but I'm not so sure he'll cope so well if we do find we're being tanked on a fairly regular basis. James is a key figure without doubt. If he stays his influence on and off the pitch will be crucial if we're going to survive this season...

Ok, the Lambert thread ISN'T really anything to do with us- I just replied to one particular post out of mischief really. Actually, I probably DO spend more time on here because: a) The banter with you guys is more interesting than our own, especially at the moment with all the doom and gloom that is PFC just now b) Our sites are more splintered- there's not really one that nearly everyone goes on. On here you do get the feeling that this is where the majority of saints fans are posting and viewing. Technically, our sites are quite poor also, and this one has a nice format, the way it's put together. c) It either this or talk to the wife all night In actual fact a couple of scummers at work are going to the game tonight. I was quite tempted at a tenner (?) to join them, just for a change of scenery....

5k v Hearts. Not bad, but no better than our 9k when weighed up I think....

Tell you what, why dont you ask the admin guys to ban us? That way you could all convince yourselves into thinking you've been Real Madrid in disguise for the last 200 years, with a billion fans around the world, the finest stadium ever built, complete with a trophy room the envy of the entire footballing world, safe in the knowledge that no-one can ever rudely intrude with a merest hint of an alternative view now and again? Go on, ban us. You know you want to! I might even get me fiver back

Truly bizarre that you could possibly read it that way

Hmmm, now let me see- Pompey youth/reserves v Rangers youth/reserves @ £20 a pop. Not a very attractive game is it? I'm surprised we got 9k to be honest. And your little bird is wrong by the way- Rangers had just over 2000 there....
  17. Good post and a fair assessment without the purile abuse that us PFC followers often get on here. I know, I know it IS your board I suppose... One scenario that could save us short term if the Fahim takeover goes tits up is the one where someone wants a Premiership club on the cheap to do up in their own image. In many ways Pompey is a blank canvas (cue 'That's not all that's blank about Pompey hur! hur! jokes), that needs a hell of a lot of investment, but is at least already in the top flight. Whilst this could also attract the chancer who just wants to suck the Sky money out of it and sell off the shell when it all goes wrong, there's still just as much chance of someone coming in who's happy to take on a project. As it stands whatever happens in the next few weeks and months I'll be happy to take 17th place at the end of the season
  18. Relax, we'll be fine
  19. That was someone else who got both against Rangers on Saturday then?
  20. LOL! And there was me thinking Dubai was dry :smt043

    Lambert

From the BBC Sport page: "Lambert started his career at Blackpool and has previously played for Macclesfield Town, Stockport County and Rochdale." Wow, that's some pedigree....
  22. So then, this 'Pasualle'....who he?
  23. True, but he doesn't appear to want to spend any of it. We need a Markus Liebherr with the money burning a hole in his pocket
  24. You have no idea of the concept of 'endured'. We listened to 40 years of ****taking from you lot. FORTY. Almost my entire life. Think about that... 99% of you never thought it was going to end did you? Pompey would ALWAYS be below you. After all, that's all you'd ever known, so why should it ever change? So then, the last 7 years have been a bit of a shock. And to call us 'smug barstewards' after the previous 40 years, well, 'pot' and 'kettle' are the two words that come to mind. What goes around comes around. Just pray very hard that you haven't got another 33 years to 'endure'.
  25. Probably a combination of disillusion at the protracted (or even cancelled) takeover, the knowledge that Rangers were going to play mostly reserve players, £20 admission for a nothing game, people on holiday? Who knows? Apathy overall I suspect, so not a great crowd for us either really....
