Don't denigrate history, simo. It's all some people have to hold on to in this scary, ever-changing world. Lawry did so much for this club. If I could, I'd freeze time and live forever in the times of Laury MacMenamie. Like in Ashes to Ashes.

There are also many on this forum who regard criticism of the old boys as akin to being a traitor; they stick their fingers in their ears and hurl abuse at the messenger. That is the single biggest fault of this forum in my opinion.

I wish that Lawrie would hide behind his anonymity once in a while. He's getting boring.

About 60 minutes in, can everyone just ignore the thread for 10 minutes then come back to and start posting about the servers. A few posts need to begin "I don't pay my £5 so that..."

If someone posts a piece of information about the match or a score elsewhere, this needs to be repeated at least 8 times by other posters relaying the same news.

... we just have a match thread anyway? It's pretty much the same every week. Let's see if we can replicate the experience of the match without Saints playing. You all know your roles, right? Remember alpine, wait until about 12 minutes in before you've written the game off. We want this to be a realistic experience.

Another thing that helps a forum be a funny and interesting place is when the people with the most posts (say, 10,000 and above) occasionally post something which is interesting and funny, rather than just moaning all the time. It's also useful when the same people don't destroy any attempts at lightening the forum by reporting posts every other minute.

It is very difficult. I set up a board a few years back called "Classic saints". It was awful and failed miserably.

It's just the same as laughing at dune's attempts at rhetoric.

Have some convinction. Don't hide behind faux sympathy. You clearly find it funny, so have some conviction and change the title and stop making childish excuses ("I didn't start it!")

That's a good caveat to open up with in order to dismiss criticism without ever having to engage with it. I might try that one myself.
