  1. How would you like to live in a place where everyone is called a Saint and your office is the one with a red and white striped roof? There's not much footie in it, but if you'd like to know what moving abroad is like for another Saint in Exile please take a look at my South Atlantic blog. And if there's another SFC fan on the island please contact me! http://www.solenthousing.co.uk/3.html
  2. Thanks everyone for your comments - I will be moving to a 3 bed bunfgalow so will always have room for passing Saints fans. Don't underestimate the cost and time involved in getting to St Helena though! I am shipping six old Saints shirts to start a local Saints team - will send a team pic to the match programme. COYS!
  3. On November 5th I will be off to one of the remotest places in the world - the island of St Helena in the South Atlantic. It takes at least six days to get there - longer than it takes to get to the Moon - so I'm lodging my claim to be the furthest Saints season ticket holder on the planet. Having bought a season ticket throughout the bad times it's a big disappointment to be unable to use it now that we are back in the Premiership but I will be offering the ticket at a reduced rate with half of the proceeds going to Two Saints Housing Association and the Saints Foundation. The locals on the Island call themselves 'Saints' and so I am taking with me all of my Saints shirts and a flag to establish what I hope will be the South Atlantic Saints Supporters Team. Full match reports to follow! Andy
  4. I've decided to avoid Saintsweb after every defeat. Morons seem to blossom everywhere when we lose.

  6. Absolutely - let's be more charitable about departing players, especially one who had to sit on the bench for game after game.
  7. Thanks for all of the comments. I would think that we could forgive the club and family that get us back to the premiership for a minor misunderstanding. I haven't got my tickets yet so don't know where I will be in the stadium but will be wearing my saints shirt. Come on you Swiss Reds!
  8. A couple of questions: whatever happened to the Marcus Liebherr banner is it sitting gathering dust in a garage somewhere? And how many other Saints fans are going to the GB v Uruguay match on August 1st in Cardiff? The event also includes Switzerland v Mexico - an opportunity to unveil the banner, maybe?
  9. Please let the other team be Malaga, new to the Champions League and only a quick flight away. And will the Olympic flame be used to set off the Fratton Park fire sale?
  10. Can´t see any mention of Crouch. It seems that he´s not unpleasant enough to get picked as usual even though he scored the best goal by an English player in the last premiership season and kept knocking them in as part of a pretty mediocre side. Just goes to show that good guys don´t win and players like Terry do. Not a good start by the new manager.
  11. There's a poll taking place for the best goal in 20 seasons of the Premier League. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/features/20-seasons-awards-best-goal/ and MLT is the only player with two goals in the shortlist of ten. Isn't that fantastic? Anyway, this is just to get those votes in for Matt - but which of his two is the best? Newcastle was sublime skill while Blackburn was skill and power against England's Number One. Forget the rest!
  12. Looks like they've given up going by this brilliant West Ham fan site (second and third blogs) http://thegamesgonecrazy.blogspot.co.uk/
  13. According to twitter he was driving in southampton and saw a Donny fan with a Sharp 10 shirt, so stopped and high fived him.
  14. Shouldn't you be revising? That's a great thread you started
  15. Now that most people understand that it is in West Ham's interests for Pompey to survive I wonder if West Ham might make a ridiculous offer for a Pompey player which will get them through to the last day of the season? How much is two points worth?
  16. Well I hope you do and if Ziggy keeps knocking them in you might win back the fans who've had to put up with several seasons of negative football and several decades of Manc success. I've still got Joe Bradford's autograph, a rosette from the 1931 Cup Final and was there when Francis scored four so still have a soft spot for the Blues. Keep right on.
  17. Here's some thoughts back from a Brummie Saint....first of all the 'positives' - excellent performances from Morgan, Kelvin, Jose, Jack and Aaron. Tough opponents, impossible conditions and the most important things were to retain possession and not take any chances, which we did well. Not so good - we aren't testing keepers enough because the crossing is poor - it's unforgivable to overhit crosses from dead balls and we do it too often. And we seem to want to walk it into the goal - where have all the edge of the box shots gone? Like everyone I'm still puzzled by Lambert's cross instead of shot. But maybe that's why we have so much possession... Biggest disappointment for a Brummie must be the very poor Birmingham support. A city with a population of four or five times that of Southampton should manage far higher crowds for its two biggest clubs and the lack of passion must be a worry. I am old enough to remember standing in crowds of over 52,000 several times in the 1970s and wonder where that passion has gone. Winning the Carling Cup seems to have generated less excitement than the Johnson Paints Trophy did down here and I wonder why that is. It isn't the weather - the situation has been like this for years. Is it the style of football played? Or the relatively huge success of clubs up the road in Manchester or down the road in London? The support, like the lack of success, is a mystery.
  18. Gladiator!
  19. Thanks for info on threads - if one froze it was easy to swap to another. Great to see such a fine performance after travelling to the last few away games.
  20. you might be taking me too seriously!! COYR
  21. Makes you wonder if our reserve team could beat Pompey's half a team now...perhaps we could offer to take their place in the division as Southampton B if we get promoted and they continue to struggle against big clubs like Barnet. Wouldn't want Fratton Park, mind....I think the facilities at Marchwood are probably better. Thoughts anyone?
  22. Yes but he also happened to be a proven Premiership striker. Our big mistakes were no sell on clause and more importantly wasting the receipt on several mediocre players. I'd spend half of it on a player with a proven goalscoring record at champ/prem level and keep the rest on hold until the Xmas transfer break or for next season.
  23. Funniest comment on the Leeds Forum is 'Highlight for me on saturday was the dodgy Kisnorbo challenge in the first ten mins, followed by thick Southhampton fans singing 'Dirty Northern bas*ard'! Haha, he's from Melbourne guys, that's about as far south in Australia as you can be! If he was any more southern he'd be a penguin!
