mocked abused and ridiculed he was... Makes me think of Bob Monkhouse, "they laughed when I said I wanted to become a comedian....well who's laughing now!".

What if Swansea make up 9-point goal difference?
OttawaSaint replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
You'd think so eh but Sky and the Prem love all that extra $$$$$$ -
The joined date and sudden frequency of posts has me saying "hmmmm" as well...

MoPe didn't improve a single player, in fact he just about ruined most of them. There's a great player in there. **** players don't play and score for Italy.
-
Think we might see both of those improve under Hughes (if he stays). MoPe's tactics often left them exposed and if the instructions given to them was as clueless as those given to the mids then it's no wonder that they got out of position.

Do they? You really think they would put their careers on the line to lay down vs Swansea and get done for what amounts to match fixing? These guys have egos, no way they want to be remembered as the chumps who laid down and lost due to a grudge. -

Relax. It isn’t going to happen. Swans vs Stoke will likely be a draw or Stoke win. Man City have no reason whatsoever to try and tonk us. -
It's wonderful when it's not us!

And Sky. If Huddy don't win then they can big up the ongoing games in Swansea and Huddy but if Huddy are safe it's a total dead duck.

Bizarre that Chelsea rotating. It's backfired horribly on them.

Great Escapes - past and present ... is this the best ?
OttawaSaint replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
There was 1996. We were 0-0 with Wimbledon at home and City were up against Liverpool and it was 2-2 (they'd fought back from 2-0 down). The last 10 minutes whereby a goal for Wimbledon or City would relegate us was absolute torture. If I recall. City thought 2-2 was enough and were celebrating (due to the dramatic comeback) only to discover they'd gone down on goal difference. -

Yep and a Jim Magilton long range effort! -

The older ones were better but this was pretty good too. But I'll never forget going to the City ground and watching saints climb off bottom spot after beating Stuart Pearce and Nottm Forest 3-1. The chanting of "Saints are staying up" outside the ground while all the Forest fans glumly accepted their fate will never leave me. -

LOVE IT! The Welshman marching into Wales to see us safe! -
Cheaper than signing another Carrillo or paying off another CP or MoPe.

The kids are bugging me because I kept singing "Ohhhhh Gabbiadini!" last night. Hope he stays.
-
We're fine! If it was the other way around and you knew we had to hump Stoke etc. would you be confident of staying up?

But we have 36 right now. Magic number is usually used in North American sports for teams chasing a playoff spot. Simply put it means number of points needed to guarantee a place regardless of what other teams do, it's not intended to give all possible permutations after the event Since we are on 36, 1pt is enough. N Americans understand that if the chasing team loses then that will do it too, they don't care about what could have been after the fact. Usually the sportscasters use it on the morning highlights show. "37 is the magic number for safety" sounds a lot snappier than, "depending on results between this team and that and this goal difference and that then the magic number may have been 33, 34, 36 or...".

My brother was a huge Man United and Hughes fan. Wish he was around to witness tonight. Sadly he passed away a few years back at the age of 35. He had a real soft spot for Saints and with Hughes at the helm he’d have loved that.

They need to learn thier lessons. The odd gamble looking for a gem is fine but we need quality players down the spine. We haven’t had that. We sold the spine and gambled with replacements.

Been on edge for weeks. It’s nice to sit and sup a pint or three without too much worry about relegation. Obviously I can’t get to Saints games so staying up means I can watch on TSN/Sportsnet here instead of crappy streams.
