Hopeless, just hopeless is our bowling. Northants had the best of the wicket this morning, now it's just flat.
-
It's an ok score but Abbott is making it difficult to defend it. But Jack has just got their prime run scorer so it may get better.
-
Hopeless is more like it. I just don't see why we don't use at least one of our 4 day bowlers. We only have 1 overseas player for the T20 now.
-
Chose to bat first today. Turner dropped, replaced by Jack. Otherwise the same team.
-
Not a bad watch. Better than Wednesday anyway. Turner is obviously trying too hard, a run in the 50 over games would do him good, but does he have a Hundred contract. The multiple left handers among the Gloucs batters didn't help, far too many balls down the leg side and the umpire gave wides for anything a bit off target. Our innings lost it's way in the middle, I think we made 11 from 3 overs somewhere in there. But the end was good. Hopefully we'll not have too many absents on Sunday, not that it really matters because we'll not qualify, but it makes the game better to watch.

I watched the first hour and the part of our innings that fell at half-time. Our bowling is just rank awful, too wide, too short, too easy to hit. The field placings aren't all that good, perhaps they'd be better if the bowlers bowl where they're supposed too. Our batting is unimaginative and there are a good few poor shots. Still could have won but we lost wickets just when we needed not to. Turner needs to slow down a bit and go for more accuracy, like he was last season. Still 50 overs competition soon, might be better.

Things are looking up, no Barker as of yet this morning. Saving him for the imminent new ball or injured !
-
Flat pitch, toothless bowling. Luckily there'll be Wimbledon later on.
-
Doesn't look at all promising for a Hampshire win this morning. Same as last week, Kent are in a relegation situation and aren't interested in anything other than a draw.
-
Partnership pushing 250 at the end of play. Bizarre day, the openers looked untroubled before the rain, then in difficulty at the re-start, Gubbins was out bizarrely, ball bounced off his leg onto the stumps I think, the Vince and Brown looked in no difficulty at all. Perhaps the wicket got a bit damp at the start of the drizzle. Seem to be in a good position, might get 4 batting points for once, probably look to bat only once.
-
Doh, Albert gone already with 1 on the board. Bowling too good for him. Needs to bat middle order, Organ might be better opening.
-
That simple dropped catch is already expensive. Our bowling looks absolutely toothless. Turner could not have done any worse than Abbas.
-
Not at all good, doesn't bode well, the bloke he dropped is now going along nicely. Plus Fuller is bowling some absolute rubbish.
-
Chose to bat first. Standard XI. No place for Prest, Turner or Weatherley. Pity, I'd like to see what Turner can do in the 4-day game.
-
Not that I noticed, didn't see all of the game, just most of it. There was a bloke advertising some sort of culinary ingredients, a lady admonishing people for not choosing some sort of car insurance and some i-phone screen grabs of scores in other matches.
-
Ouch, thanks for the info. Back to the 4 days game then. Any news on Prest? They said on the commentary for the Essex game that he's nearly fit to play again. Might even have said he was a possible for last night's game.

Well, I watched some of last night's game on some sort of bizarre Indian youtube re-transmission, I am now an expert in what you need to put into your curry recipes from their adverts. As far as the game is concerned, it's clear we have at least two problems. We don't bat well enough at the start of our innings, and we don't bowl well enough at the end of their innings. It's all wrong. McDermott isn't doing the job, the youngsters drafted in to replace Orr and Prest don't score quickly enough, and Vince looks out of nick. Scored a few yesterday but took a while to get going, same as Weatherley. Wheal shouldn't be anywhere near the side, Fuller is too wild for T20 fielding options, Wood....don't get me started, why is he still here? and Turner has obviously gone backwards or is no longer interested by Hampshire. Neser is OK sometimes, not as good as Ellis, probably a better bat though. We're toast for this season's blast, need a complete overhaul for next time round. Still, there's the 50 overs joust to look forward to, hoping for better.

Our bowling in this competition is just not good enough.
-
And with Weatherley they bowled outside of off, knowing full well that he doesn't score many that side. So eventually he gets out trying to hoick everything over midwicket. We're good enough against poor to middling sides but will come unstuck against the better ones, above all on their patch. Turner is a concern, seems to have weathered his non selection for the WC T20 not too well, mind you on today's showing it kind of makes sense. He's got to be smarter when he bowls.
-
Our bowling was utter rubbish today, shameful, too wide, too short, some full tosses.
-
Indeed, Gubbins looked like a fish out of water for the 3 balls that he faced. Surely one of the young players must be a better fit to deputise for Orr. Can't remember how long Gubbins has been with us exactly but the fact that he's only played two T20s in all that time is sort of a giveaway.
-
Oops, some serious slogging and we're back in it.
-
Heading for a big loss again though. Can't score quickly enough against tight bowling. Our bowling, in it's totality, is nowhere near good enough
-
Getting seriously tonked by Kent's openers.Turner went for 16 off an over and Neser has gone for 32 from 2 overs
