  1. Absolutely clueless. Gubbins sticking around, Brown as well until he committed one of Hampshire's peche mignons, chasing a nothing ball down the leg side. Probably all wishing they'd signed on for the lastest franchise extravaganza. I see that Sams has gone there, won't be playing for Essex on Saturday then.
  2. Right, we can't win this but with some sensible batting we can get a draw and 10 points, that will keep Somerset behind us in the league. So what we do not want to see here is: Wafting outside off stump, slog sweeping, iffy runs leading to run-outs, getting caught down the leg side chasing balls that should be left alone. Should be alright if we do that. Hah, Abbott opening.
  3. Abbott and Organ doing the job, 2 batting points acquired now and only 50 more to avoid an eventual follow on. Ball change coming up, we'll probably be all out soon then. Ball only 12 overs old, useless object these Kookaburras.
  4. Nah, they're just shite at batting. I mean Vince, when will he learn not to waft at balls a foot outside off? And Dawson, a slog sweep to deep midwicket. They know they're in the also rans for the CC this season and can't be arsed to bat properly. I'd drop them all for the next championship game.
  5. Knock off the joke batting chaps !
  6. Third, right ! But that's a false position isn't it because some sides have played less games. Unless we can pull off some miracle and get a draw here,Somerset and Warks will go above us and Lancs have a game less as well. We have royally screwed up on the batting line up once again and the ability of the bowlers to dig us out of trouble agaiinst good sides is waning. We'll finish 5th or 6th this time round, no great disaster but it will come about next season if we don't get some real batters at the top of the order and some younger bowlers into the side. Abbas looks hacked off most of the time and Barker isn't cutting it any more. We also need to put an end to dropping soft catches, cost us a lot in this game and against Lancs.
  7. 41/2 and off for rain again. I suppose we can hope for one of two things here, a 300 partnership between Vince and Gubbins or two days of wind, rain and wuthering. All other outcomes would suggest an innings defeat.
  8. And Weatherley gets bowled first ball of the innings. Got nowhere near a dobby seam ball. Hants are a T20 side and nothing more, won't be until they get us a real opener, but I guess they don't come cheap so we won't.
  9. Haven't watched for a while because the Tour is interesting today. But earlier on our bowling was desperately bad. No pace, no variation, just straight up and down waiting to be hit, Fuller was just painful to watch. Dawson plugged away but got nothing, organ seems to have bowled a few overs late on but is getting hit . Perhaps Holland was a better option than him. Hampshire will no doubt produce a batting debacle again and we'll lose by a shedload. Arses need to be kicked, the pitch looks flat and so do Hampshire.
  10. A very poor morning for Hants so far. Awful bowling, poor field placement and another relatively straightforward chance dropped. No doubt the constant change of format between T20 and Championship doesn't really help.
  11. Simple one as well. Somerset building a bit now after their poor start. Bowling at the moment not really great.
  12. We had a woman coach at Clermont for about 3 years, she did fairly well although it was in Ligue 2. moved on to the French Womans Team afterwards. A veritable dragon by all accounts, the Clermont boys were OK with it but not the slum zone princesses who always want their own way in the national side, got her sacked and replaced by a bloke in the end.
  13. Watched the end of the Essex game, tight finish from what looked to be a comfortable position. Could have gone either way really in the last couple of overs.
  14. But they called for a review instead, thus not confirming dead ball or end of over. There is a classic old tale of some ancient umpire talking to some ancient player during and interval about an possible lbw off the last ball before the interval. So at the restart the skipper calls Howzat and the umpire puts up the digit. How true this tale is , I've no idea but it used to do the rounds on TMS and the like.
  15. Our health system is collapsing too, just overstretched. Theoretically it's not free but if you can't pay you get treatment all the same.
  16. It's a very complicated issue but cultural gauchisme is part of it. Also a lot, and I mean a lot, of adolescents are just left by their parents or in many cases parent, to fend for themselves. They don't go to school or college, live in the periphery of drug dealers and other racketeers. The parents are only interested in the generous and constant handouts. This kid had no driver's licence, wasn't old enough, no justifiable revenue and how he was driving a hired car is for the instant, unknown. But he had previous, perhaps he came across the same cop twice in a week, doing the same exact thing. Many young people here do not identify in any way with the traditional french culture, see themselves as victims in a foreign land although they've been here all their lives. Plenty find their way in the world though but the hard core is just a lost generation.
  17. But he didn't and I presume the TV umpire would know that....modern technology and all that. anyway this is the Ashes, win at all costs and by whatever means you can, it's endemic in the history of the series.
  18. Can't quite see why we chose to bat first here. 4 down now and it looks like hard going.
  19. Looked that way from the live stream anyway. Ball would have needed to do an awful lot to hit the stumps. Umpiring standards are getting worse. How many decisions have been overturned on review in tha Ladies test so far ?*
  20. Won the toss, chose to bat. Different type of ball today. Middleton gone already , usual Hampshire foible, chasing one outside the off stump that should have been left well alone. Weatherly dropped in the gully already as well.
  21. Apparently Prest may be back in contention for the last two group games. But before that some Championship cricket against Middlesex, starting tomorrow at the Rose Bowl.
  22. Poor start after putting Essex in. Does pace bowling have any real value in T20 cricket.
  23. Must admit I wasn't familiar with the notion of Bazball before I looked it up during England's first innings. Seems to be applying one day tactics to 5 day test cricket, could be wrong there though. Anyway Australia seem to be progressing steadily towards their target, still a fair way to go though. Must admit the selection of Moen Ali surprised me, I'd feel insulted if I were a younger player with the same attributes hoping for a test chance.
