  1. Wow, tough schedule from 2 Dec to 10 Jan, hope we get an easy 3rd rounder in the Cup then.
  2. i saw an interview with a Valencia player that he had a run in with the other day, bloke seemed to think he drank a lot of vino or something and stripped them of 7 millions euros or so for getting sacked. Joaquin I think his name was, Koeman dropped him for turning up 2 minutes late at a team talk but took no action over Ever Banega who got done for drunk driving and running a red light. Valencia was a total disaster for Koeman but it was 6 years ago, he's probably moved on since then.
  3. Not really the point, whether a defender takes penalties well or a striker it still boosts thir goal total, so when you have "striker would be happy with that" it negates the question somewhat. A penalty is a penalty, who was it that said no professional football should miss one, Lineker perhaps. Penalties are great but they alter stats.
  4. A lot of penalties and some sumptious free-kicks in that score though. The penalties...meh but the free kicks...class.
  5. So in replacing Guly that would be like for like then.
  6. Must have been a long holiday then.
  7. Played 4-3-3 at Valencia, only know that because players said it made them into headless chickens. Not sure they didn't use a 3-5-2 formation at Feynoord though.
  8. Just waiting for the ink to dry...done deal, not short of right backs anyway. I'd class him as about on a par with Clyne.
  9. KD has a contract as a player up until about 2016 I think....why I just couldn't say but I've not heard any rumours about him jacking that in for a coaching role. He probably still sees himself as our number 2 keeper, it's not Gazzaniga or Cropper that will make him think otherwise.
  10. I should think that if he goes anywhere this summer it would be to Monaco. Out of our league, as are probably most players in reputable CL clubs.
  11. Time to declare 1 think, over 600 ahead, doesn't make any difference if we set them 600 or 800 really.
  12. No idea on this match really, Uruguay can't possibly be as bad as they were against Costa Rica, England can't possiblyy waste as many chances as they did against Italy or defend as poorly. 2-2 draw perhaps. Probably suit England better than Uruguay.
  13. What will convince the itchy footed to stay on is vision of progress, already it needed more than just Mauricio staying to do that, it's about the plans for thr team next season, we shall see where we're aiming to go with the new signings which we should be closing in on by now. Still think there might be 2 or 3 more departures myself but perhaps not both Lallana and Shaw simply because they're overpriced.
  14. And we seem to be making heavy work of it, Hants 22-2 after about 12 overs, hope we'll not regret not making them follow on.
  15. Not made them follow on though, perhaps we're expecting the pitch to degrade or something.
  16. Doubt if we'll be first in the queue though, a very sought after player apparently. He'll end up at Bayern Munich or AC Milan.
  17. Wouldn't be surprised, he was already expensive at 27 million (no doubt spread over a long time and a lot of adds-on). Any more would be ridiculous, as I keep saying there's better for less. Better for us as well although that will depend on the new manager's preferred style.
  18. Not a bad game all in all, England erred with their finishing, far too many shots from outside the box off target or easy pickings for Sirigu. Perhaps they thought that as it wasn't Buffon it was a village idiot in their goal, who knows.
  19. Still a bit behind the forum and the bookies though aren't they ?
  20. We used to have a bloke from Talksport in our global sponsorship office in London, not there now though, think he works for the Tennis federation or something. Grapevine and all that. MLind you the thought of it not being McKay might reconcile me to the choice of Koeman...eventually.
  21. Think we'll be waiting a fair while for that then.
  22. Club will be announcing it soon then I expect, probably hunting down KBilly's source as well.
  23. Probably some lag time on the quoted odds, we'll see if it goes down suddenly or gets suspended at any time soon.
  24. Well I think having a ground with a 15500 capacity helped us to not move up a gear at the start of the PL as well. When gate receipts were still important having about a quarter of the revenues of top sides certainly didn't help.
  25. About right for the first part, what he says in his word jumble is that we've had few applications from people who at some time in their career have done well at football. Doesn't say how or when. He also talks of a list of potential managers who've been scouted in the past, do you thnk Mancini would have been on that list or Ranieri, doubt it, neither is young or up and coming really. So you then have to decide whether our manager elect will be from the scouted list or from the straightforward applicants, not so many clues as to that really. Basically it was just another wait and see gabfest. Didn't listen myself because I have a particular aversion to estuary accents.
