  1. Then again they might be better...
  2. No, smack on the wrist and bit of a fine is the usual punishment. Points deductions are a legal minefield. Same as the old FFP, few cases have ever brought more than a fine, a squad number reduction for UEFA competitions and a warning.
  3. I'd think their rocketing population has something to do with it. Used to be fairly stable, about 56 million or so from 1981 to 2001 and since then it's jumped to 60+ million. When you increase something by 7% in less than 20 years everything else needs to follow. Which isn't the case in Italy.
  4. But no! "Mr Jisheng Gao and his daughter, Mrs Nelly Gao, with whom I have built a close relationship, share our values and ambitions." Unless of course she had no values and no ambitions.
  5. Perhaps he was the only deal eh. Still when you need the cash you need the cash. If you don't then some sort of correct behaviour is expected. Saints fans have always been led up the garden path about the wealth of this branch of the family. They never trumpeted it or made false claims of course but when 3.5 billion or whatever it was was being constantly bandied about from false assumptions then a simple "we don't have that much" was a good move, knock back expectations and all that.
  6. Well Amanda Staveley certainly talks a good takeover but it seems to end right there. Mr Gao paid over the odds for Saints and the sole responsable in the matter is our former owner. That's the person that should draw the ire of the fans not the chinese pidgeon.
  7. Just looked like getting some money in by selling anyone who was sollicited elsewhere to me.
  8. I remember him going the wrong way for the Brighton penalty so "stood there making no effort" doesn't seem to fit really.
  9. Well who knows, McCarthy may have saved one of those Derby shoot out spot kicks. IIRC Gunn didn't get anywhere near any of them.
  10. Well he's getting exactly whay I expected him to get..the number 2 keeper's place, same as he had at City. if he wanted first team football he should have been looking for a club that actually needed a number 1 keeper, Fulham for instance.
  11. He's probably having a season at a level where his age isn't too big of a handicap. Beating Guingamp 2-0 is probably comparable to beating Ipswich.
  12. Well yes, he's changed a lot for them. Just getting to the CL final probably made about half of the sum back for them. What is more the purchase was wholly financed by the sale of a player that they don't seem to miss a great deal.
  13. Perhaps Nemesis will catch up with him then. Seem to remember he was investigated for a couple of years in the bungs scandal but nothing ever stuck.
  14. As are many things that McKay seems to be involved in. Nothing ever proved against him though, the Arry Redknapp of the agenting world..
  15. Vince going well in the Big Bash . 75 last match, 74 not out today.
  16. Well perhaps he wasn't speaking literally. I remember flying on a few old single engine tubs out of Hurn. IIRC it was usually the de-iceing system that didn't work particularly well.
  17. Probably waiting to get sacked and get a pay off. No-one will hold that against him, crap team with no money that he kept up last season.
  18. And yet we keep buying strikers and CBs demonstrating that if we can't find "decent" ones we take a punt on whatever is available.
  19. Is he still here? Must have the drop on someone on the board then.
  20. Who knows. What Ralph is reported to have said just sounds like bog standard football manager transfer window speak.
  21. I thought our performance was erratic, some good spells, some where we did nothing at all. Then again we had no genuine quality in the side so it's understandable.
  22. Probably goes back to the era when we dished out 5 year contracts to anyone owning a pair of boots.
  23. Well no, why would Bielsa be interested in Forster if he can get Casillas.
  24. Morgan has had a fair few deaths in his immediate family these last couple of years. Not great under any circumstances but when you have "fans" getting on your case day in, day out it's probably not the greatest inspiration to bounce back. Also constant managerial changes never bode well for the majority of players. Look at Fellaini. Van Gaal didn't really rate him. Mourinho made him a base player and now Solskaer/Sir Alex are trying to ship him out to some nether region or other.
  25. Well with Kane out until March and Son on international duty perhaps Poch will seek a loan for Gallagher. Doubt it but would probably do the lad a world of good. Poch and his crew have a way with young players.
