  1. The reply is a simple effort to dispel the dogma that we are actually paying money for the player. I shan't be judging him until he's had a good few games for us....if and when that happens cos there I'm just a weeny bit sceptic because they don't throw work permits around like confetti nowadays.A prima facie the player does not qualify for work permit unless special circumstances are considered.
  2. Then again if you read the latest Nippon Gambare gumph he expects to have his permit soon (dates vary from tomorrow until 12th January) then he's going back to Japan to sort some things out and should turn up to play for us by the end of the month. On saintslist we have a new Japansese correspondent, Atsushi Sasaki or something like that,he implies in his latest missive that he doubts whether Delastrade's stuff is factually correct. So if you're reading in Atsushi why not sign up here, get some real English lessons from us all and some real bolleaux to dis.
  3. Mind you I wouldn't trust anything much that was made in the Var,aren't they all FN supporters down there?
  4. probably because going to football on your own was the first sign of juvenile emancipation in our day. I'm sure I was going on my own from about 10 onwards, number 14 bus to Stag Gates, walk down with a couple of other lads, through the boys gate for a handful of shrapnel and then you were free to swear all you liked without getting moaned at by your mum and grounded by your dad.Poor little sods have to go with their folks nowadays.
  5. ooooh don't remember seeing those,I can remember the year to June 2010 but wouldn't mind a look at the last lot, did we make any money?
  6. well I really don't know then, I was told and have seen written that he is out of contract and is seeking a new club He's represented by a German agency BBC fussball something or other. They have been trying to flog him around Europe for a while now, last summer it was Hertha Berlin, several French clubs got a circular about him (heard about it,not seen it though) and one of the selling points twas that he's free of all contract. However I don't think all the information you read on transfermarkt is necessarily kosher if that's where you got the contract date from.
  7. All makes sense really, NC was the late Markus's right hand man and apparently a trusted friend.
  8. Did you all know that West Ham have been in contact with a Japanese players as well Ryochi Maeda or something like that?? they wanted him for a trial but he thought it was below him and told them to **** off...or his agent did.
  9. we aren't spending 1.8 million on this player....he is a free agent...we will be paying him a salary and maybe a signing on fee but that's about it.
  10. Chicharito cost about 10 million all the same, not free with Cornflakes like our latest prospective signing.
  11. getting a work permit seems to hinge on Governing Body Endorsement,it's the FA you have to persuade of your case first and then the Home Office or whatever. The 75% rule is one of the criteria set by the FA for their endorsement,it's not a Home Office standard.
  12. we really need to see if Bart is a viable alternative to Davis or if we need something better sharpish, for this reason I expect Bart to play on Saturday because Davis is costing us points now.At least 1 against Brizzle and at least 1 against Brighton, same as the 2 that Bart cost us against Blackpool. 2 not very great keepers= big trouble on the horizon.
  13. trouble is we don't have much else.Really surprised how slow we are in the transfer market, we know we want players, why delay getting them?

I think it has become evident via many years of heated discussion on these forums that not all fans look for the same qualities in a player. Some like a bit of huff and puff with gung ho tackles agogo and some like a bit of refined football where keeping the ball is paramount and it doesn't matter how long it takes to get goalside as long as you get there. So even if LBA looked for a month of Sundays he might not see what you see.
  15. And I was soaked in the Choccy Boxes, despite full cycling rain gear, yellow cape and souwester
  16. Ewan, that sounds like a scot's name, probably totally deluded about the standard of their league.
  17. Let's face it,we have absolutely ZERO chance of getting any player on loan from Newcastle and they have next to no chance of buying any of our players. Looked at them for about half and hour yesterday and I'd have to admit that AP is doing a decent job there. He's signed some decent players for not so much money and has them playing decent football.Mind you Man U...what a joke.
  18. I read that the Steelers will be without their starting safety as well,he can't do high altitude games apparently. Still expect an easy win for them though. Steelers-Ravens again ...ouch.

the relative downturn in form of many of our players is probably due to too many high intensity games too often. We've been top for over 3 months now,we've had injuries so the group rotation hasn't worked as well as it was.I don't imagine it's easy to beat West Ham on a Tuesday evening and then go to Reading and get a draw on the following Saturday afternoon. There are some bloody good teams in our league and the mental and physical efforts involved in overcoming them must be staggering, especially when we've been making do with a group of 12 or 13 players most of the time.
  20. NA said he had a groin strain in his post match interview.
  21. i think they mean that the value of his 2.5 year contract is 2 million £ ie 2.5x800K£. Lee is a free agent or at least he was when he was being hawked about in France by his agent.
  22. see above, the writer of that article says he's out of contract within days,I suppose that means on 31st December.
  23. here's the free transfer bit, top of the article "libre de tout contrat" http://www.footmercato.net/europa-league/info-fm-un-serial-buteur-japonais-attise-la-convoitise-en-ligue-1-publication-asap-ce-week-end_77828
  24. But I think he may be setting the sights a weeny bit high in citing Defoe,Bent and Walcott. A megastar in the making....maybe....a free transfer....certainly.
  25. He takes it superbly well, no doubt any of our players would do that in so much space, but with Greer or Matt Mills holding you by the throat it becomes less easy.Don't forget this is a player who's come into the game late, the Aussies have been on for 100 minutes +
