  1. I think he's waiting to see what happens next season really,as far as I've heard we priced him out of a move he wouldn't have minded last summer by slapping a ridiculous price tag on him (seems to be what we do) then he got dropped in favour of Chaplow when he was on international duty. I think he really wants to stay at the club but whether he rates Adkins as a manager I just couldn't say. If we start with a Cork/Hammond CM which I'm very much afraid we will ,then he'll probably want away even before the end of this transfer window. If that doesn't happen he'll probably want to stay as a potential free agent next summer so no long term contract in view until Adkins plans for him become apparent.
  2. 2 is Richardson, 3 Harding, 4 Morgan,5 Dickson...... so number 5 will be available soon
  3. It's not just about the manager or the project or the training facilities.Decent players are starting to be exigeant about their potential team mates nowadays. I've heard of players turning clubs down just because there were no plans to sign other 'top' players.Afraid to shoulder all the blame if things go wrong I suppose.
  4. Good old Southampton slang.......eating.....avid Pompey followers would of course not be slow to point out the equine connection.
  5. Cavendish has a reputation as a dirty sprinter so I don't think he'll get the benefit of the doubt when any claim is made against him.
  6. I like the little of CMS that I've seen, fast and can take the ball with him, expect I'll get a bit slated for it but the goal he scored against us last season sort of reminded me of a Channon classic.
  7. not for comparison of goalscoring prowess purposes no.You can only compare like things and 20 odd goals from open play cannot be compared to 13 goals from open play and 8 penalties.
  8. Don't understand what you're getting at there, Murray was out of contract and wanted to move on and CMS is from the same level. Anyway I don't really see any lack of ambition at SMS just a solid confidence in the players we already have,at least until it can be seen how they perform one level up.
  9. doesn't take penalties though, Lambert had a very poor goalscoring season last year by his standards if you take away the 7 penalties.
  10. And yet Sharp with his 11goals + 4 penalties is supposed to be the bee's bolleaux and easily worth 3.25 million, then there's Maynard, reported at 4 million how many goals did he score last season...divided into goals and penalties if you please. Like Lambert 13 goals (including 1 deflected free kick) and 8 penalties compared to CMS's 20 odd and no penalties.
  11. Well of course you can look at it that way but as I personally happen to think that Seaborne is a waste of time and space and will be even more cruelly exposed at NPC level; then for me he doesn't even count and Jaidi, well he's about 97 and can't realy handle anything faster than a snail and hoofs the ball forward to boot, that sort of relinquishment of possesion will come at a heavy price next season.
  12. I really don't understand this hysteria over CM, Morgan and Chappers what else do you need? Hammond is still here as far as I know and then there are Dickson and Fish who can both play in midfield. As far as I'm concerned what we really need is a decent fast CB to partner Fonte and maybe a striker if none of the 4 or 5 we already have can get the job done.
  13. aha sounds much more likely and would partially explain why there are so few apparent suitors for a decent player.
  14. no, I certainly don't know for sure that it's the asking price, it's the figure that's always been bandied about everywhere so I just assume that it's fairly accurate. Last season it was thought to be about 2 million but there were no takers so back to Burnley you go jack my lad. He'll have a year less on his contract now, maybe only 1 year left I don't know,so he may not want to tie himself down at all this time round, he probably knows that Chelsea will loan him out if he doesn't accept a permanent move. Then he may have the enviable option of being a decent player on the market for free which in modern day football seems a good place to be.
  15. It's all a bit strange when you think about it ,here we have and England U21 international who can play in a few positions equally capabably on offer for around about 750K and we are the only ones to have put in an acceptable bid whereas other clubs around our League are signing up players willy nilly for argueably superior sums.Has the bloke only got 1 leg or something because if not all 24 NPC clubs should have bids in for him already. Can't quite seize the fact that Burnley don't have two 375K notes to rub together either,it's such a trifling sum, even Pompey could find that much, so they're probably hoping that Crk will turn down whatever is offered to him and be back at Burnley on the cheap again next season for a handsome bonus no doubt.
  16. I'm not knocking NA Nick, not in any way and don't forget that although Posh may have forwards we could only dream of we have a midfield that most NPC clubs let alone L1 can only dream of, Deano,Chappers,Morgan,Ox and Adam would walk into most NPC sides even though most of our supporters seem to spend their days dreaming of Danns,Cork and Howard.
  17. I really, really don't understand all this chagrin over Gobern, perhaps he just wanted to play regularly, with Morgan,Chappers and Hammond already here and a bid in for Cork he was never ever going to get much of a look in.So he left; so what. Adkins has to be very very wary about how he handles our midfield next season,if he goes down his experience counts role then I guess he'll be saying exactly the same things about Morgan next July, because Morgan well I don't think he'll stand for being a spare wheel behind Chappers and Hammond very long,no matter how much money the club offer him to sit on the bench. It's clear if you want a player to stay at the club then you have to give him the opportunity to play regularly and not just when your preferred starter is injured or suspended. Saints have no reserve side to speak of so if you're not playing much in the first team you're just expending effort at training to sit on the bench. I do wonder if this is why (or partially so) that the Sharp affair failed, he wanted regular football and we told him he'd be one of 5 competing for 2 (or even 1) striking place with Lambert always on pole position.
  18. Hah, the eternal references to Posh and Darren Ferguson,Posh played much better after Ferguson returned, or at least I think facts would bear me our on that. Ferguson changed the central defensive pairing and brought back Zakuani which led to a net slowing of the number of goals they were conceding.I couldn't say exactly why that was but it certainly did the trick.
  19. Au contraire, Cork might be worried that he wouldn't get a regular game for us unless it's at right back.Probably sees himself as a midfielder and there's at lot of competition for those places at SMS.
  20. new contract until 2014
  21. Could be Rivas though, I sort of give some credibility to that rumour. As Bari have gone into Serie B it's the sort of deal that just might happen.
  22. Nah, they all know that we'll be getting some swans for OxC very soon and want to take some of it from us. Just got this sort of niggling feeling that if this hadn't been the man that got NA out of League 1 when he was a neophyte manager we wouldn't have bid anywhere near as much (although perhaps we didn't). I really can't see that Sharp is anything exceptional, front man is a place I'd have thought we were fairly well provided at although Barney and Lambert might not do it for us.Guly and Connolly could probably score at least as many goals as Sharp given full season on the pitch.
  23. That's why I said by pace or guile or a combination of the 2,anyway Giggs doesn't play on the wing any more, when he's on they go a bit narrower and use a wing back system.
  24. Good, very good, only 2 problems, Ox is going and Adkins will play his binky Hammond somewhere or other, mark my words over this, he doesn't care who he ****es off,Hammond gets a game.
