  1. does now it or so it would seem.Player gets new haircut shocker.
  2. because I was a small boy in Southampton and small boys went to football of a Saturday with their dads to support their local team.Didn't need a ST or a replica shirt to be a supporter in those days, supporters went to games on Saturday or played local football.
  3. 3 and a half hour queues for new STs, looks pretty good then......well not if you're in the queue in the rain I suppose but for overall sales.
  4. Image 9 is a bit ominous
  5. Well that's something that remains to be seen isn't it. I have my doubts about a couple of them,we'll find out soon enough I guess.
  6. call it the cost of apathy.
  7. out of interest benjii, what would your estimate of the salaries of say Forte,Dickson,Martin and Harding be ???
  8. probably far more than a half of the not going to renew for whatever reason actually did. Anyway they'll be replaced by avid new ST seekers and at the end of the day we'll probably end up with somewhere between 15 and 16K sason ticket holders.Given that many away sides will want a couple of thousand tickets that'd mean about 10/12K tickets on general sale for most home matches, just scarce enough to put a bit of pressure on for decent games and make people think about booking in advance and copping the 3£ admin fee if they can't go to SMS easily during the week.
  9. so not a 1 year extension then, a whole new long term contract. Not going to accept a K a week for that is he now.
  10. There are facts and figures available. In 2006 there was a big survey amongst professional footballers which gave an average of about 650K/annum in the EPL and 200K in the CCC, since then evidence indicates that salaries have roughly doubled so 400K a year in the NPC ie 8K a week. You'd have to look really hard to find a player on a K a week in the NPC and it surely isn't M Antonio.3K a week is about average in League 1 now so no player is going to accept less than that from an NPC club.
  11. So he should now be out of contract ??? Isn't though. A K a week for a player in the NPC is laughable, the PFA wouldn't allow it to happen. He will be on at least 4K,probably more now.
  12. I think 8K is about the average for the NPC so even a young bit part player would be on at least half of that. Doubt if there are many NPC first teamers or peripheral first teamers on less that 5K myself. You only have to look at our player costs in the last available accounts to work out that there aren't many even at SMS on less than 5K a week.
  13. He's probably never been given a chance because he's not good enough or doesn't fit in with their game plan. I really doubt that Reading wanted to keep him but they took up a contract extension option just because they thought it was an easy 400K screw from us. NC doesn't do getting screwed over so Antonio stayed at Reading and has probably cost them nearly as much as they thought they'd do us for. This is why you have to be very careful about keeping on bit part players,5000£ a week for doing absolutely f-all is a lot of money. I think Saint's have too many bit part players already, even want to see some outs,so Antonio? no thanks, not while Jonno Quick is already here doing not a lot.
  14. But you only have to look at the last game to see that I'm right, we had Sussex in trouble at about 180/8 and with a decent mop up bowler we could have had a first innings lead on a difficult pitch. But no,we allowed them to pick up another 60 or so for the loss of a couple of tail-enders, spinners aren't always effective against strong arm sloggers at 9 and 10 you know, the finer points of batting are lost on them, they don't play strokes, they slam the ball over midwicket if they can.I am not a fan of too many spinners in the side, what I want to see is a real fast bowler or a Shackleton stereotype with a vast range of balls and unerring accuracy, if you missed against the Shack the ball hit the stumps or you were lbw.
  15. In fact I'm convinced that the club knows just how eager it's fans(or customers if you wish) are to hand over money since the JPT final. From what I've been able to understand of it people were falling over themselves to liberate a £100 or so of their hard earned without question. I'm afraid that this gave the club a clue as how easy it is for the majority of fans to find extra money. Of course no one wanted to miss the big day after a few years in the wilderness but too many were too eager. I think the £58 seats were the first to sell out weren't they?
  16. No not really, it can't be done.It couldn't be done from he day we lost to Worcs. That was the must win game and our bowling made sure that we had no chance whatsoever. Until we find a genuinely decent bowler who can rout tails and scare 6s,7s and 8s into daft strokes we will struggle in 4 day (real) cricket. Those of you who saw Derek Shackleton, Andy Roberts and Malcolm Marshall will know what I mean.
  17. Paul Allen has been a minority shareholder in the Sounders for quite a while, since about 2007/8 I think. Don't know his exact stake but there is 1 majority owner, some film producer I think and 3 other "minority owners" of which Allen is one. He's never "bought" a football team as far as I know, just chipped in a bit.
  18. Holmes looks pretty much at ease with his right foot though, cross for the first goal is definitely with his right foot, think the second may be as well. Nice to see Connolly actually getting on the end of good ball into the box, Swiss defence nowhere in sight though, may be due to the quality of the crosses.
  19. I see that Deano got booked, does that count for next season or is it just pro forma?
  20. Aha we're the Man Citeh of the south then.
  21. I see that Leicester have just signed Konchesky from Liverpool, is he a right back or a left back?
  22. I predict that the majority of those moaning vividly about forum performance on match days will be those who don't pay.
  23. Anyway, within a year or so there'll be a new Sunday on the news-stands, the News of the Screws is eternal, probably be called the Sun on Sunday or something like that.
  24. Ah I didn't know that, NOTW found that out by hacking his phone did they!
  25. Mushroom system. Obviously an experiment to see just to what extent you can push blind faith and still make money.
