  1. It's also a regulatory union which has a clear economic rationale: common rules support trade and competition. Without a degree of harmonisation -with 28 different sets of rules governing the sale of a product or service, economic activity would be much lower. The level of ignorance on here is staggering.
  2. #clueless Or the blindingly obvious fact that 40+ years of economic interdependence cannot be readily unwound without significant disruption.
  3. I don’t hate her. She’s played the hand she was dealt as well as she could. The problem is the hand itself was a pile of s**t. The silver lining of today is that it’s further proof that Brexit is undeliverable.
  4. All we need is a PM who believes in Brexit. Is there a more f**kwit statement.
  5. I’m no fan but she’s got far more integrity than Boris Johnson and half of the ERG charlatans.
  6. Remember the ERG are the shower of s**t that had to shelve their Brexit plan B because they couldn’t agree among themselves.
  7. Interesting thanks.
  8. Those who want Brexit are throwing their toys out of the pram, even though they have been at the heart of government. Despite having every opportunity, they have singularly failed to offer a realistic alternative. Which was obvious from day one because they had sold the public a pup.
  9. Dominic Raab is widely considered a duffer in government circles, combining sulkiness with a massive chip on his shoulder.
  10. Because you've got form.
  11. Don't get any funny ideas Les.
  12. Where did I claim that there wasn't a civil war (as expected the civil war reference has flown over your head)? I just noted that it was not particularly relevant to any assessment of the EU for the historical reasons I've outlined. I know that 149 pages on, people like me and others are being proven right by the day while reality is exposing your claims for the childish delusions that they always were. It must be difficult for you pal. Believe or not I want the best for this country, including you.
  13. Brexit meets reality
  14. Apart from denying the Cold War division of Europe and the subsequent role of EU enlargement in reunifying a fractured continent, Les also forgets that the Balkans Conflict was viewed as a civil war. I thought intervening in the internal affairs of another sovereign state went against the jihadist code. As if we needed any more proof of Les staggering lack of internal consistency. He aint the sharpest tool in the box.
  15. Just keep betting against it whenever it goes up.
  16. Yep the Brexiteers. They own this mess.
  17. No Les it’s simply on the historical record that Western and Eastern Europe was divided by the Cold War and communist states operated in their own oppressive orbit beyond the influence of the EEC/EU. The subsequent enlargement of the EU to the former Eastern Bloc, on the other hand, has been a success given the region’s bloody history. Part of that success has depended on significant agricultural and structural funds spending in these countries which has allowed them to catch up to Western European living standards while spurring economic and institutional reform. Most people would say that financial and strategic bargain was well worth it to heal a fractured Continent post the Cold War (never mind that it ultimately means a larger domestic market for UK businesses). Needless to say swivels like you are clamouring to cut off the UK’s budget contribution to the EU; yet have the hypocrisy and ignorance to claim that the EU hasn’t done more or should be doing more for peace and stability. Good lad.
  18. Read a book pal.
  19. I’m not airbrushing anything - remind me when Yugoslavia was part of the EEC or the EU Les.
  20. Maybe Les you’ve failed to consider that there have been no wars precisely because of the EU’s success in maintaining peace and stability. Never mind that EU enlargement, on balance, has been a success when it could have been very easy for transitional countries to backslide into repression and authoritarianism. But then I suspect your grasp of European history is as weak as your grasp of economics.
  21. Point is Les anyone can use google to find views that confirm their own - it doesn't make them any less batsh*t mental.
  22. Les, Simon Heffer's prejudices are well-known and indeed he's very well remunerated for them. I doubt anyone would cite him as a impartial thinker anymore than they would rely on Owen Jones to objectively assess the Tories record in government. GM might but he's a bit challenged.
  23. I thought the skate was going to walk.
  24. The gammon losing their s**t over May's deal on LBC. Caller to Iain Dale "Am I going to be surprised if someone lets off a bomb outside Downing Street next year". Jihadists, nah never
  25. It was a pretty common interpretation of the election result Les. However I'm more struck by how you can accuse me of not having a clue of what the electorate voted for in the GE then claiming to know what 17.4m people voted for in the referendum I think its your nap time old boy.
