I thought he was in London with Palace ?
-
Shows he can also play in a much more advanced position

Sounds like Napoli still hold all the cards- the player wants to join them. Getting the player's agreement is harder than the club's.
-
The other things are likely to follow if we finish above spurs/everton assuming they are there or thereabouts. But never going to happen, is it.
-
I'm saying that, in terms of stature, the gap between us and everton/spurs is big but its not as big as that between wigan and leeds, so its not easy to understand why wigan haven't closed the gap but why we could given a sustained run of success. So the analogy isn't exact. Second, actually challenging on a consistent basis -which would be the case if we finished higher than spurs/everton- is what makes a team 'big' in the eyes of others, not hobbling along, doing relatively better than another team -which is what wigan have done vis-a-vis leeds. Again the analogy breaks down. Frankly I have no interest in whether we might be bigger than a team that was sponging off past glories. And lets get there first. Again for all I know, you clean dishes on Brett the cook's submarine. Talk about making the same jibes

All I'm saying is that comparing Leeds and Wigan is a poor analogy. You could shovel s**t for a living for all I know.
-
But if we were to finish above Everton and Spurs, the likelihood is that we would be challenging for the top four or major honours. Nothing concentrates the mind more than success. That's implied in the post. Which is very different from a lowest-common denominator, negative comparison between a perennial PL struggler and a fallen giant that's happened to have done even worse. You're comparing apples and pears - or photocopiers and fax machines if that helps you understand the point.
-
Analogy breaks down in so many ways its untrue. -Leeds have been relatively successful across a generation e.g. CL league semi-finalists in 2001. -Even if Leeds have fallen on harder times, Wigan have hardly set the world alight. -Attendances at Wigan are significantly lower than at Leeds whereas the difference between us and Everton/Spurs is much smaller. That's also true with a lot of other factors that on paper, give a club kudos. -You're not in a good position to judge or answer the question - you've grown up with a relatively successful Leeds team and the associated folklore whereas younger fans won't have those memories/assumptions. You never know some might view Leeds in the same way a 30 something might view Burnley.

Interesting that fans from other clubs -the uniteds and liverpools- can see us toppling the likes of everton (granted there's a bound to be some bias among the scousers). Perhaps some on here should take their head out of their ******. Too many are masquerading small-time, parochial grudges against fellow posters as billy big b*****ks realism and objectivity. There's no reason why we couldn't consistently challenge for a top 6-8 place (and higher) if we continue to strengthen and keep a young and increasingly proven squad together for the next few years. Whether it will make us bigger -in a living-off-past-glories-kind-of-way- than Everton or Spurs is neither here or there. Frankly its a distraction.

Agree - and Richardson made his impact came when it mattered most i.e. when we were in the championship.

Were they both taking a tour of SMS then?

What was confirmed?

Think a winger is a priority, just behind a striker. Can't expect our fullbacks to keep providing our pace and width (as they have been) without something giving. Its part of the reason we've been so toothless away from home where onus is on defending rather than attacking.

Well done BS - only 10 days out http://www.goal.com/en-my/news/3956/transfer-zone/2013/06/23/4067531/liverpool-everton-and-cardiff-city-join-race-for-celtic

They have been heavily linked with him in the past few weeks - the main roadblock has been the sale of Fellaini. Wanyama would be a natural successor of sorts.
-
Exactly. MP hasn't been opposed to playing him on the wing (e.g. Reading away) but he hasn't looked very comfortable there. Saying that he hasn't looked comfortable down the middle either.
-
Reckon Banega, Morgan and Wanyama could form a tasty partnership - all three are box to box and Banega can play in a slightly more advanced position -possibly the position Davis is currently occupying.
-
Would be surprised if MP would make any comments unless he was confident of pulling the transfers off. On that logic, the Banega deal might have serious legs too. Interestingly the OS article on MP's press conference included his comments on links with the Wanyama and Banega but not those on Damiao.

Last week it was 3 or 4, now its 6 or 7 things - you need to keep on top of your sterling itkery. Of course, none of your 'snippets' have actually come from you -rather they were already in the public domain and subsequently given the GS spin. Your efforts can be likened to one simpleton trying to convince another bunch of simpletons that night follows day is down to his superior insight and information. Predictably, whatever fragment of a story might be attributed to you has proven without fail to be wrong. The idea that Wanyama's agent was a stumbling block to any deal was common knowledge -no rep points there. But your suggestion that we were only willing to pay £50,000 when the agent was demanding £500K has been disproved by a variety of media sources. That's the tip of the iceberg of your horse****. Alas, keep telling others that haters gonna hate. Of course, believers gonna believe.

I reckon its actually a plus - he's basically guaranteed to make the world cup squad, so there is less pressure on him to be at a high-profile club to stake his claim. In principle, he can take a longer-term view of which club best suits him.
-
Were you at the VIlla game - he was rash in front of goal but he created most of those chances by himself -andnot just by being in the right place at the right time. He absolutely bossed our defence. Jayrod has shown inconsistent flashes but we don't have strikers who can create something out of nothing.

GS record may be broken but you're still a 100% mug.
