The KUMB boys think we're fiddling the FFP rules and still believe Jack Collision and their other fantastic Academy products would walk straight into our first 11. Bless 'em.

What odds did you get?

Why mess with near-perfection Money, it's a gas Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash New car, caviar, four star daydream Think I'll buy me a football team

Agree though it probably has more to do with the fact that we are a more established prem side and can attract better, younger players than a change in philosophy. Osvaldo is an exception -and raises interesting questions whether he are going to sign more players of his ilk and experience. Saying that we did sign Steven Davis last season who was older than Osvaldo when he joined.

Wanyama and Lovren just turned 22 and 24 respectively - the emphasis is still on youth.

So he's completed some of the medical?

Another Glasgow account that has to go on ignore.

That's right - he took half the keeper with him Was a great Friday night out. Incredible we were still battling to catch second from bottom at that point.

Definitely - Trotman did a job. Guess its the amount of progress we've made under the new regime. On the pitch, the plan couldn't have been executed any better.
-
From his espanyol days- his stock has gone up since then and he's showed at Roma he can play in several positions where he often came off the wing.

4 years ago to nearly this day we were taking Neil Trotman on loan (20 August 2009)

Guess this was one of the main reasons Poche was brought in. Will be a good litmus test.

Agree- can see him drifting in off the wing. Possibly from the right hand side.

The new boys must have been celebrating their win bonuses ATM

Very assured. Didn't look like he was making his league debut - a proper compliment. Still Clyne is the man and we missed his attacking play. Shaw and Clyne are terrific outlets -and there were times when the game was crying out for Chambers/JWP to attack the space in front of them.
-
Yep- remember PNE away in 2008 (McGoldrick 3-2) as well.

He just have a mullet like Glenn Cockerill.

Perhaps Merse has been on the manhattan powdered donuts too (today's prematch music had a Charlatans theme in honour of Jon Brooke's passing)

Which forum is that?

Back from the game - we looked very compact, esp in CM and at CB though West Brom are a very poor team. They've lost everything that made them such a handful last year -pace and directness. Anelka looked like a pale shadow (saw him play last summer in China and even there he seemed to be running on empty). Long will chase and harry all day but nobody's going to lose any sleep over him. Lovren and Wanyama were excellent, though Wanyama faded a bit the second half. Shaw was excellent. Lallana also deserves an honourable mention as his play was much more incisive than usual. Chambers had a steady debut, though JWP did an excellent job of making sure that he was never too isolated (one diagonal punt to Long in the second half apart). Still Clyne offers so much more at the moment. Shaw's driving runs were a reminder of Clyne provides on the other flank -and apart from the odd, bobbly flash from Jrod and a powerful run from Wanyama in the first half, its something we missed. Hopefully we can sort out a new striker this week - Lambo has many qualities but running the channels as he was doing in the second half as West Brom pushed up isn't one of them.

Nik Nak couldn't put it better himself. CoC.

"He would prefer a return to La Liga, where he already shone on loan at Espanyol, and is therefore intrigued by the latest proposal on the table". Going somewhere with which you're familiar and excelled - all about the money isn't it

Not necessarily - sometimes the employee realises the longer he leaves things, the harder is to get to grips with the new work environment. Timing the move right which sometimes means making a decision early is often the most important consideration. I know I'd rather start a new job when the office is relatively quiet than during peak season when the s**t is hitting the fan. Unless the football analogy isnt clear, it's a new season and Osvaldo will be playing catch-up whichever club he joins. Would be interesting to know how well footballers fare at new clubs when they move at the very end of the transfer window.
-
We can be a means to an end - guarantee him first team football where he can develop and perhaps put himself in the window for another move down the road. Very appealing for younger players. By contrast, there are plenty of players who've gone to bigger clubs and achieved f**k all, languishing on the bench or in the reserves which has ultimately hurt their earning potential and chances of winning honours. In the job world, would you move somewhere where you were a small fish in a large pond and risked being overlooked or go somewhere perhaps smaller but where you enjoyed responsibility and gained visibility -all of which can help your progression inside or outside the company. Far from clear-cut IMO.
